Cryotherapy-anyone tried it?
Hi all...I just had my stage 2 reconstruction which involves a lot of lipo and fat grafting. I am REALLLLLLLY bruised and swollen. My PS suggested that I do cryotherapy. Has anyone tried it and was it worth it? Was it successful?
Thank you lovely ladies!

I am really curious about this, I hope someone responds that has done it.

TWills....I went and it was amazing!! I was so bruised that I looked like I had been hit by a truck. I wish I could post photos here. From my breasts down to my hips....front, back, and sides...were swollen and bruised. I went in (and it's not easy to stand naked in 140 degrees below zero for 3 minutes!), but I did it.
The next day, I woke up, and almost every single bruise I had was gone! My husband's jaw dropped when he looked at me. I went back to the cryo place the next day (I bought a package of 15 sessions-not expensive), and they could not even believe how different I looked!
Actually, I posted photos on my review of the place on Yelp. They are called LA Cryo in Pasadena, CA.I did a second session, and I did not have one single bruise left.
I have to have my third (and hopefully last) surgery on August 14th. I'm glad I saved sessions because I'm going to need it!
My doctor also recommended Lymphatic massage and I did that and it also seemed to help some. I can't tell if it was that or just time, but at 4 weeks, I have no more swelling or anything. Just numbness in my abdomen from the DIEP surgery.
I'm already pretty happy, but I think with one more surgery, I will look as good as I ever possibly will.
I will say this though....recovering from liposuction was MUCH harder than recovering from DIEP flap surgery. WOW. Painful. Not looking forward to doing it again. : (

mitzi, liposuction was hard on me, harder than DIEP. The bruising never heard of this treatment but it sounds very interesting.

Edit-I am just now reading your reply on the fat grafting thread.
mitzi458, harder than DIEP?!?! Pain wise? Mobility wise? I'm trying to figure out how much time I'll need to take off. I'm so ready to go back to work but I will be starting in a new salon in a new town and it feels so weird to have to tell them all of my business and that I'll need time off for stage 2 and additional fat grafting sessions. We have a new cryo place and they are running great specials and I'm hoping that it will help me heal a bit quicker. My stage 2 is in 2 months

TWills-
I thought the pain was more difficult. I used more pain meds after lipo than I did after DIEP. It was more uncomfortable to sleep, and it was very itchy!
Everyone is different though. A lot of people had no problem with the lipo part. I think my PS was very aggressive and took a lot of fat. Which I’m sure he will do again because I need it to be moved around. Now that I have a small waist, I have a Kardashian bum!
I think I remember that you don’t have much body fat so it may not be that painful for you. My PS warmed me. I would ask yours because they will know.
As far as work goes....I don’t know because I was back at work full time 4 weeks after my DIEP (as soon as I could drive). I was back three or four days after Stage 2, and started traveling, lifting and carrying heavy stuff a week later (I would not recommend it but I had no choice as there is no one who can take my place at my job).
I would say you will EASILY be able to go back to work after 10 days-2 weeks on the outside.
Good luck!!

I felt the same way as Mitzi, there was more bruising and pain from my fat grafting. I could still work however. I wore the garment.

thanks y’all, that explains a lot:) I feel more prepared now.
