Two weeks ago I had fat grating to repair a dent on my breast. After my mastectomy 5 Year’s ago, the dent was getting larger and my PS, recommended this surgery. I’m very pleased with the results, however yesterday I noticed my breast is red and warm at the graft site. I will call my doctor tomorrow, however just wondering if this has happened to anyone.

I haven’t had my fat grafting done yet but I was wondering how long I should take off for it? I’m a hairstylist so I work on my feet. I could do shorter days though. Hope your issue resolves, I had redness with my tissue expander and had to have it removed because of infection. Hopefully your redness is just part of the healing process or at least easily treated:)

My PS mentioned this as an option for my right breast at my appointment on Monday. I had my implant surgery on left breast done 3 weeks ago with no issues, but right breast has been a different story. TE had to be surgically removed in April, then surgery in June to debride and close the pocket where a seroma had formed and had drained since April surgery. So I'm very interested in all comments about fat grafting and how it affects recovery time.

    Twills,

I was really sore at the donor sites (my flanks mostly) for about 2-3 weeks, but I could drive after just a couple of days, and was able to work a week later. It was just uncomfortable .... it itches like HELL underneath your skin so you can't scratch it. I read that it's the nerves repairing themselves where they were damaged from the lipo. The places where he injected the fat didn't hurt at all. I was VERY swollen and had no idea what I was going to look like. After a month, you can really see the work, and I'm amazed at what a fantastic job he did, considering what he had to work with. I was a B cup that looked like a hamburger bun on my left side, with a scar all the way around my entire breast. He injected fat into and around that. On the right, I was a saggy, tear-drop shape, C-cup after my DIEP surgery. He lifted that one and not sure if he did anything else to it. He lipo'd my flanks and underneath my breasts on my upper abdomen.

I think on this next surgery, he is going to take from my hips and thighs (SCARED OF THE PAIN!!!), and hopefully my back fat above my bra line, and inject it to fill out my left side so my cleavage is even on both sides. Well that is what I'm hoping for anyway!

It was painful, but it went away pretty quickly. I was working HARD at three weeks, carrying all kind of heavy things and traveling a lot for work. I think I can take it one more time...and then I'm DONE! Now working on using scar cream to get rid of these gigantic scars everywhere!!!

The doctor confirmed it was part of the healing process and all looks good . I’m so happy I had the surgery. My recovery was about 2 weeks. But actually felt great by the second day. I just couldn’t lift anything over10 pounds . but otherwise it all went well. If you need to return to work, working shorter days may help. I would definitely take at least 3-4 days off after surgery. You will be tired. Good luck!!
