Need your thoughts on this please.

This started with a terrible pain on the underside of my arm, side just under the armpit and then I'm my back shoulder. The pain kept me in tears all day. My lymphedema specialist thought this was cellulitis. Later that day at regular one visit I told her what therapist said and She gave me IV antibiotic with toradol and sent me home with more antibiotics and pain meds. By Thursday night pain had gotten much better. Yesterday I woke up with awful headache and stiff neck finally got rid of the headache and started running fever. So far only been 102..so that's my story question is... Could this be fever from cellulitis? Would I develop the fever while on antibiotics? Oh and all of my blood work looked good and the blood cultures came back negative for bacteria.

Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom and experience

I think if you have 102 fever, especially associated with a stiff neck and headache, you should be seen immediately. You should call now or go to the ER

thanks I would like to wait until tomorrow. My insurance will not cover an ER visit unless it's ready life or death.. So far motrin is keeping fever around 100 so at least I don't feel as bad

Mucki, unfortunately if you need to convince your insurance, then your doctor can certainly make a case for "life-or-death" with your risk here of out of control cellulitis. If the antibiotic you're on is not hitting the infection then you definitely need help TODAY. Like NOW. More here:

I'm having my first bout with cellulitis. I lifted some heavy things with my sleeve on, then took my sleeve off and swam in a river. While I was at the river, I got a sunburn on my back. By the time I got home, my breast was hot and red. I'm 6 years out from my BMX and 3.5 years out from my most recent reconstructive surgery, so I immediately panicked and thought of IBC. Then I found some posts here about the link between LE and cellulitis. I saw a nurse the next day (yesterday) and got a prescription for kelfex. The redness is starting to subside now. The nurse thought I was exposed to bacteria in the river, probably through a scratch on my leg or a little pimple on my chest. It's very sobering to think that I am fairly careful about my LE but still so susceptible to an infection. I'm bummed about the long-term implications, but thankful the antibiotics are working. After seeing so many posts of women who remain on antibiotics for months trying to resolve cellulitis issues, I'm planning to move toward an anti-inflammation diet and lay off the margaritas. But river swims are my favorite!!!! Who has time for this nonsense!?! I hope you are getting some resolution, Mucki!
