Postop sentinel node surgery suggestions needed for bra
Hello everyone. I am needing some help and hopeful someone will have suggestions I am postop day 2 from sentinel node surgery and can’t seem to find a bra or camisole that doesn’t hit the area under my arm and causes pain. It is right where a bra or camisole or tank hits my arm. I work in an office so no coverage would not be a good option. I am a C-D cup and breast from lumpectomy becomes sore without support also. My front close sports bras have worked for the lumpectomy but now do not work for the sentinel node removal. Any suggestions? Thank you

Hi Duffy' s mom.I had my mastectomy 6 weeks ago and bought a lovely forward fastening bra ( really comfy) from' living better with cancer' website .I ve even just bought a second , has a pocket for any prosthesis and it's just fab😊

you may try just cushioning the area where the bra and site meet with an ABD pad. A maxi pad will also work in a pinch.

Yes, the bra near the sentinel node problem. This happened to me. I ended up cutting a half moon shape out of the side of my bras and camisoles to remove the fabric that was hitting the area. I still cut that part away, a year and a half later because I can't stand to have anything touch it or put any pressure on the area.
So there's that. I also found some Hanes bras at Target that were a little lower cut on the armpit, didn't have to chop those up.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am sure before this has healed I will have tried them all. I definitely like having a front close bra.
On my first day back to work I put a nursing pad between the area that I have the stitches and my bra. It started out fine but began to rub.
Today I think I am going to try to cut my bra away from the area. Right now it is just so sensitive - still using ice on it at lunch time.
Thank you for the wonderful suggestions

I got a front close sports bra from Victoria’s Secret of all places! I had lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy June 13. I was very surprised that it didn’t bother me. Maybe my incision is in a diff place but definitely in the area where the bra cuts across. Amoena makes s cami with shelf bra in it that I looked at. It’s on amazon. I may get one for the summer. Good luck finding a comfy solution.

Thank you Kidgo for the suggestion. Front close bras are my new best friends. I think part of my problem with the bra was that it hit exactly at the stitch spot and pulled on the steri strips. I bought some inexpensive front close sports bras and cut them down and that seems to work for now
