I desperately need to hear from others who might know anything about what I'm going through. In short, several months ago I found a lump and it was biopsied 3 months ago. The doctor told me he got the whole mass (right under my nipple) and the results came back as benign microcysts. It took about 4 weeks for all of the swelling in my breast to go completely down, and thats when I noticed the lump was still there and feels exactly the same as before. I called and asked if it was possible the wrong spot had been biopsied, and was told it was doubtful but that these microcysts can grow back quickly so no need to come in sooner than my 3 month follow up. I had my follow up today. The lump is bigger now and I now have swollen lymphnodes under that (my right) arm. The doctor suggested that I have an incision and have the entire lump removed under sedation so I'm waiting on a call to schedule that. He seemed nonchalant... almost too nonchalant. He told me the swelling of the lymphnode could be cat scratch fever so called me in a Z pack. I read all about cat scratch fever and don't really have the other symptoms associated with it so it doesnt really make sense. He also said the lump now could be a bruise from the original biopsy, but wouldn't they have been able to tell the difference when comparing my first pictures with my now pictures? Can they not tell the difference between a bruise and a solid mass on ultrasound? Would he really send me to have what he believed to be a bruise surgically removed?

Please level with me because I dont feel my doctor is. He made the comment "you're too young and healthy to be hanging with me!" so I really feel he is trying not to worry me. Does this sound concerning you guys?

Hi Heather and sorry about the worry. I get a second opinion for everything, so I'd suggest you take the biopsy and ultrasound reports to another, certified breast cancer center before having the spot removed. Always good to get a different, expert opinion. Best wishes.

I agree with Georgia, get a second opinion. BC is not something to mess around with. Peace of mind is worth it. My MO was like that, always blowing off my concerns, thinking I was just anxious and depressed, so I left him and got a new MO that I really like.

Thank you both so much. I saw your replies come through in my email yesterday but couldn't respond immediately as I was at work. I have taken your advice and left a message with a breast specialist this morning for a second opinion. The original mass was a hypoechoic BIRAD 4. I thought I was past this after the biopsy but now I am scared all over again.

Get a 2nd opinion.  Another thought, you need to trust a doctor.  If you're questioning this surgery don't doubt yourself.  Find out with someone else.
