Biopsy today. Surgeon said to be prepared....
hi. I had an ultrasound assisted core biopsy today - not fun. Even with numbing it was painful. I really think it depends on the area of the breast as some folks say painless and others not. It was bearable and is sore. Tylenol seems to help.
I’ve had cysts before that were removed by this surgeon and he only does breasts so I felt very well taken care of today. He was up front and said I should be concerned and that he was fairly confident it was cancer. He said rarely was he tricked but I would get biopsy results next Tuesday and wanted me to be prepared. I’m guessing he told me this as previously he said he was pretty sure they were cysts and there were.
He looked at my lymph nodes and a few were enlarged. He said that he didn’t see anything life threatening and that he would take care of me and get me on a quick plan to be cured. I believe him.
I’ve got to adult children (31 and 26) I’ve decided with support of my husband not to share with them until we get the biopsy report with more info. I feel a bit guilty but I feel I’m doing the right thing. Plus my anxiety is high and I don’t want to be stressed more until I know for certain.
I’m glad I’ll have found this community should the surgeons projections be true.
All prayers are welcome. Thanks. Jimi
P.s. I’m a girl named Jimi.

Jimi - I am very sorry you have to be here. It sounds like you have a good doctor. The waiting will be tough but hang in there. I agree you shouldn't tell your children until you are 100% sure. No need to cause unnecessary worries. Sending prayers your way.

I'm very sorry, but glad you found yourself here. My doctor told me it was cancer before I got results to prepare me. He was right. It gave me time to find the medical team I wanted and to do research.
Certainly, there is always hope it isn't cancer! And I am hoping this for you!
The waiting time is so full of anxiety. Sending all my best wishes to you.

Hoping he is wrong this time! You'll get benign or not first, then if it’s not benign, hormone receptor status a few days later and HER2 status about 2 weeks later. Oncotype will come after that. So even though you'll have at least 1 answer next week, you likely won't have all of them right away.
I also waited to tell my grown son, my little son and my parents and siblings. We actually waited til we had all the results and a set treatment plan and where we would go for it in place (MO is local and had BMX w/ immediate DIEP flap recon in NOLA).Everyone has so many questions and fears and it was very calming for me to have those answers. Something to consider.
