My MRI showed 1 possible node (1.1cm) w/cortical thickening. Other than that, all clear. They tried to do a biopsy on that node but the radiologist missed it (UGH) So surgery will be to remove 1 sentinel node on each side and double mastectomy. If all nodes are clear do they do chemo or radiation still?

Don't know. What is your hormone and her2 status?

HER2 is negative, ER 93 and PR 98 (very high)

After surgery and final pathology, your MO will order the Oncotype test. You can order Oncotype reports for node negative and 1-3 node positive results. Based on the Oncotype is usually if they deem chemo necessary or if your cancer will be responsive to it. From what Ininderstand the more highly ER/ PR positive you are usually the lower the Omcotype which means your cancer will be most responsive to hormonal therapy - usually Tamoxifen if pre menopausal or AI’s if post menopausal. There are other factors that could play into chemo and radiation as well such as your age, grade, size of tumor, number of positive nodes etc... waiting is hard and unfortunately you can’t make any decisions until you have all the info after surgery. Best of Luck!!

LeesaD, thank you for this great info. This makes me very happy. My ER was 93 and my PR was 98. HER2 negative. Hoping for just the hormonal therapy. You brightened up my day a bit. :)

With those stats, I'd be surprised if you needed chemo. Most people who had BMX do not require radiation, but that will be determined by final pathology. So, you may only need hormone therapy after surgery. I haven't found hormone therapy to be difficult. YMMV.
