Bah..thought I was done after mam/us, but Dr. rec consult

Had my mammo/ultrasound last Monday. Radiologist told me while I was there it was likely a cyst, but it had “junk” in it so they just recommended a follow up mammo/US in 6 months. Went today for follow up with my doctor and he said with my family history (grandmother and grandfather with BC, and because there was a slight chance—although very slight chance—that it could be more, that if it were him, he would see a breast surgeon just to be sure. So, ugh.

    A biopsy might give you peace of mind and they are not a big deal. Better to know one way or the other, right?

    just updating.....saw surgeon today. He was okay with either follow up ultrasound in six months or with draining the cyst and testing the contents. Said he tends to lean more towards the draining because he sees “bad stuff everyday” and that would confirm/give peace of mind, and he brought up the possibility that the cyst could potentially hide something else. So we settled on doing an ultrasound and if the radiologistbfelt it had changed or needed to be drained, they would go ahead at that time. Not sure when that will be scheduled for yet. They are also referring me for genetic counseling based on my grandfather having breast cancer
