Lump on my rib

Options

I had pain on my rib and sternum before surgery. But after my mastectomy on my non effected side I have a large lump on my rib under where my breast was. About an inch from my sternum. It's very tender to touch. But I had my ro look at it and they said it didn't feel like anything troublesome. Cause I didn't have cancer on that side. But my hand always goes there's cause it hurts and you can see the lump. Anyone have anything like this? I mean maybe I've been broken a rib before. But it just sits in the back of my mind. I had a breast mri in feb before bmx surely they would have seen it if it was a bad thing?

I'm just curious if anyone else noticed anything similar after mastectomy. It's very much an ouch. Probably the size of a grape. I am a little worried about it but I'm still in treatment so that also wouldn't make sense. Just wanted to ask if I should persist and have my mo check it too when I go for my next herceptin infusion next week or let it go and trust it's nothing.

I had a hard time getting diagnosed so my trust is low. I had a 7.3 cm tumor and nipple inversion and a big dent and it took me a year to get someone to order further testing. MRI is what I needed. Cause mamo showed nothing. Anyways thanks for listening

mojo, so sorry you're going through this. I understand worrying about every unusual thing. My BC was not detected on mammo either. I had a recent experience that could be helpful to you. I had a bilateral MRI as a follow up a few months ago. Even though I had a left MX the MRI checked both sides, unlike the follow up mammo and us. I needed a copy of the report for my doctor so the office printed one. It was very reassuring to read the all clear. Perhaps you could request the MRI report of your original tests and see if there was any indication of concern. The MRI is the most sensitive so it's the one with the most reliable information. If you're still concerned then ask your MO for sure. Good luck to you!

if I'm uncertain about something I ask each of my healthcare team separately to look at itand tell me what they think. Normally one of them recommends additional testing or looks up the most recent scans for me and tells me what they see and why they don't recommend anything further

thanks for responding. My mri was clear as far as the surrounding bones back in feb. it was for my pre op. So really it probably is an old injury. Just more sensitive because I don’t have any padding over it. I will have mo peek at it next week and then if he says ots nothing to worry about I will try to ignore it

If it bothers you request imaging. Trust your gut. Get a second opinion if necessa

Mojojennijo- yes! I have the same thing! It freaked me out and I went to my BS and she assured me it was just a rib. I can actually grab onto mine. I think a lot of the tenderness comes from nothing cushioning the ribs. I think I’m going to ask for an US when I get my mammo in July, just to put it to rest in my mind
