Hi, first time to post here. I am 61 years old and post menopausal. I had my yearly mammogram yesterday and was called back in today for an ultrasound. Radiologist said that it is a fibroadenoma and I do not need to worry, no follow up, just come back in for next year’s mammogram. He said I have had this for a few years.

My questions is...because of my age shouldn’t I be at least getting a biopsy? Can women my age really just have a fibroadenoma

My uncle had a fibroadenoma when she was 75y old. Now she’s 80 and the fibroadenoma is still there, so I Think it’s possible you have one at your age.

Do you have your latest reports? If the fibroadenoma is an old finding, you don’t need to worry

    Hanna2013,

Thank you for your reply. I didn’t evenknow that I have a fibroadenoma so I am not sure how long I have had this, I am guessing at least 3 or 4 years. The radiologist was comparing my new ultrasound to one I had a couple of years ago. He said it had not changed and not to worry about it. My husband has a friend that is a radiologist and I am sending my US and mammogram to him for a second opinion. Thanks again for your reply.
