20 year old? Could I have breast cancer?
Hello, i am 20 years old and my breast always hurt. Even if I don't have my periods, it still hurts. I also recently starting getting rashes around my nipple and feel little bump when i touch my breast. Sometimes i feel my nipples vibrating. I haven't seen a doctor yet. Could these be beginning stage of breast cancer?

I'm sorry your worried. Younger women can certainly get BC but it's highly unusual. At your age it's prob just hormone changes causing the breast be extra lumpy. Rashes around the nipple is probably dry skin. I'm not a doctor and no one here can say for sure. If feel that strongly about you can always make an appt with your gyn or reg physician for a quick breast exam.
Best wishes honey

At your age, breast cancer isn't just highly unusual, its EXTREMELY unusual, practically unheard of. Young breasts can have all kinds of benign lumps, bumps, and rashes.
I'd suggest you have a doctor look at it. Not because i think you have cancer--i would bet my paycheck that this is ANYTHING other than cancer. But this is something new and you need to be in touch with the changes in your body.

I don't normally post when I disagree but since I know 2 very young ladies personally, I respectfully disagree. As we have an increase in screenings of younger ladies those numbers will continue to rise. All you need to do is search and you can find the personal stories of these young ladies most of them dismissed initially due to their age, they had to push hard for screenings and such. The really sad thing is the younger the ladies the more aggressive it seems to be and this is the group having the hardest time getting the medical community to listen to them and take them seriously. Unusual yes, Practically unheard of no.

Mucki, what do you disagree with? The part where we said that breast cancer is exceedingly rare in a 20 year old or the part where we recommended she see a doctor to investigate? I'm sure if you dig hard enough into the internet you can find 2 or 3 cases of breast cancer diagnosed at age 20. I'd be very surprised if you could find 100, or even 10. None of us can say positively that this young lady does not have breast cancer, but it is EXTREMELY unlikely, statistically speaking. Over 95% of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer are over 39. The younger a woman is, the less likely she is to have breast cancer and that's a fact. 20 year olds are almost never diagnosed with breast cancer, but they are well known to have many benign conditions of the breast.
Any woman of any age should have new lumps, rashes, dimples, and other breast changes evaluated.
