I was supposed to have my first fill last week but the dr. wouldn't do it because he forgot to tell me to take an antibiotic the day before and the morning of the fill. Is it normal to take antibiotics before fills? He said it is to avoid infection, but I can't imagine that a few measly doses of antibiotic are that effective. Also, is there an "ideal" amount of cc's to try for the first fill? I've had a lot of nerve pain post-bmx and PS won't prescribe anything for it, so I'm a little nervous about pain after the first fill. I am going to take a Valium (thank the Lord they gave me a bottle after surgery) before I go in, primarily so I don't leap off the table and strangle my PS when I see him this time. What I'm starting to piece together is that he's a competent surgeon but terribly disorganized with office visits.

    Hey Ready

I’ve had more fills probably than the average reconstruction patient has had. I started this reconstruction thing in May 2017. I just had my last fill this week. I have never EVER taken antibiotics for a tissue expander fill.

    Very interesting though!

    ReadyAbout-

I have not been prescribed antibiotics before my fills. There is no “ ideal” amount for your first fill. Everyone is different. It depends on many different factors. You should discuss with your doctor. I don’t understand why your doctor will not give you a scrip for nerve pain. Do you have a date scheduled for your first fill yet? I hope your first fill goes smoothly. I’m going to have my fifth fill today and will post how it goes later.

    Ready

You guys always get me thinking. I’m super comfortable with my plastic surgeon despite my blips in this process so I rarely question her anything, in fact I seek her advice on other issues.

I was in with her yesterday and asked her about size of my fills. Now I’m a tiny person with relatively large boobs a large c cup. The maximum fill she did on me was 40cc. She did say 90 to 100cc is quite large fill but truly depends on a number of factors. Big thing is go at your pace!

    Good luck Ready.

Well ladies, I had my fill today and it wasn't horrible. The needle stick on my usually numb side was ironically the one that I felt. I left 50ccs heavier and the pressure is immense. I only took 5mg of Valium before the fill, which is big for me, because I make myself sick with nerves when I go each week. Last week, I took 2 and it helped a lot. It probably helped this weekthat I was really put out with my husband on the way to the appt. My frustration with him kept my mind off the visit. It was my last appt with the PS who has brought me this far. Next week I will begin seeing his associate. It was bittersweet to say the least. He did say that before the fill, my cup size was about a B+ or C-. He said that he thinks I am a good size now, and that if I agree, my next fill could be my last.

I have mixed feelings, so talk to me. I didn't go into this with a desire to be any bigger than I was before, and while I still don't want to be, I know this is my ONE chance to be happy with how I look. I know that no one can tell me what to do, but sometimes I think I would like to do one more fill for size, then the last "extra fill" to be done. With that being said, I haven't had my bra off since my visit and I haven't had time to see them or get comfortable with how I look. I feel like I'm pushing it and being vain if I opt for one more fill, but I was filling a DD cup before surgery. Mostly because they went from 34 D to 34 L (long), so I had to reel them in and fill up the DD cup. 😏

My wise, foob bearing sisters, speak to me. Be honest and give me the good, the bad, and the ugly. I won't be offended or butt hurt, no matter what you say. I just need to hear from those who are going through it or have maybe already gotten past this point. Blessings to you all and thanks in advance! 🙏🏼

it is all about you and your co fort. If you look at yourself and question, sign, make a squishy face, maybe you need more.

I went my entire life having too much boobs.. I had gastric bypass in 2003 and along with my weight also went my boobs. I had all the skin, just empty. So yes I was a 34long also. Since I was already disfigured,so to speak, I really thought about going flat. But then post op it felt off..hard toexplain. I had slow fills, then some withdrawals also. My last till he gave my back the 25ccs he removed a few weeks beforeand more. It wasn't until that last big fill it felt right. Now they project far due to a lot of scar tissue. Implants will be a little smaller. I am happy. That is your goal, your happiness.

    Blessed

You should be the size you want to be.  Are you having any issues with your skin being compromised on either side?  I had that issue, but I didn't care, and my PS kept warning me that I would need alloderm  during my final exchange on one side.  Then I sprung a leak, and had to have LD flap.  But that side was always compromised from day one.

I was hellbent on being the same size before this whole ordeal.  IT doesn't sound like you are having any issues, besides being terrified of that needle.....so proceed with confidence and clarity.....

    Good luck Blessed!!
