I have been reading this site upon detecting a lump, having a diagnostic mammogram, followed by Biopsy all within the last 2 weeks. I have been notified today by my Physician today that it is positive for ductal ca. The size measures 8mm. I am now going to be scheduled for an appointment to see a surgeon in regards to treatment plan. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect. The following of this site has aided me incredibly. I initially thought I had a death sentence but reading all the posted information and comments here had given me some relief. Thank you all for sharing. The unknown is so scary. I am sure that there are many following like me be in the shadows and not commenting but your comments are so helpful and you are so supportive of each other.

    Hello, SherryM

I was just diagnosed middle of May. Having surgery on June 28. my lump is 9mm

I saw the surgeon and she explained everything. What DCIS is. my treatment options etc. She answered all of my questions. It is not a death sentence but rather something they found quite early. I had an MRI and then an additional Ultra sound biopsy bc MRI showed suspicious tissue It turned out to be DCIS also.

Take each day as it comes. I am doing much better now. I got a prescription for a low dose Xanax at first because the anxiety was terrible and I wasnt sleeping. High school graduation and prom to look forward to this week. All good things

You will be fine. Ask questions. Feel comfortable with your surgeon and don't get talked into something you'r'e not comfortable with.

The days will get better. Time seems to stand still in the beginning
