Kanga roo. Yes, a few of the ladies here have had liver surgery. They usually post oN the local treatment thread. Ive had y,90 which is radioembolization of liver mets. Lots of ladies have had that TX. How many liver mets do you have?

You should be able to find someone on that thread or the " How are people doing with liver mets" thread.

Kanga~I was stage four immediately and a small pencil beaded sized tumor was found on my outer helmet of my liver. Very very small. I had Chemotherapy ac four of them, then I had a mastectomy and node removal 35 of them. I also had a liver resection. And more chemo abraxane.it was a rough surgery and I was in the hospital a week. It was worth it. They took that out of my Liver on 6/21/16. It was the best thing they ever could have done to get aggressive with me because of my age at the time. I am blessed to be in remission and I hope against hope this will last for decades. I also wish you wonderful results as well. It takes some to heal but worth getting that out!!! Go away cancer !!! Best wishes ~M~

Thanks Micmel, that’s very helpful. I have one tiny liver met, less than 1cm. I have been on Kisquali and it has reduced the cancer in my breast and liver remarkably. I’m getting a CT scan done next month and if the cancer has reduced further, my onc is suggesting cut it all out - she is talking “cure” if they get it all... She says this is all new and experimental, so I want to explore all my options.

Thanks Grannax, I’ll check out those threads.

wow! Liver surgery? I have been told that my breast cancer with mets to the liver is "systemic" and therefore surgery wouldn't help. I need to keep exploring.....

There's a great topic called " Liver mets: resection, ablation, SBRT, Y-90, anything else? "

here in the Stage IV forum. (I'd give the link if I could figure out this tablet.) Anyway there are many knowledgeable ladies there who've had various surgeries that were successful. I'm following there because even though my liver mets are not causing trouble now, I know things can change in a hurry.

Celebrate, I need to investigate this more too, but my oncs logic goes something like this...

If the CT shows the cancer has been reduced further they could operate and get rid of any evidence of it. If it grows again I would be classified as de novo again, and eligible for first line treatments.

If I continue with kisqali/femara until the cancer starts growing again, i would be looking for a new treatment with the possibility of the cancer morphing to something more aggressive. This would give me fewer long term options.

I don’t like the idea of invasive solutions, but I think I will only get one chance at this, so I need to make the right decision.

Any one out there been faced with a similar decision, would love to hear your thoughts or ideas.

    Jackie
