Hello Ladies...I just found this thread. I picked up my pelvic ultrasound report today so I could bring it to my Onc appt. on Monday. I am meeting a new oncologist 'cuz the old one was horrible. The report concerns me. The report states my right ovary is abnormal. It is enlarged-10 times the size of the left. I have 2 complex cysts. Cyst #1 states "septation vs 2 simple cysts side by side" I assume that means they couldn't tell if it is 1 septated cyst or 2 simple ones stuck together. It is 34mm.  I also have 3 fibroids- the largest being 22mm. I have had a lot of symptoms of ovarian cancer but I know the symptoms of cysts are similiar. I was supposed to start tamoxifen but I think this changes things. Does it sound like I am looking at hysterectomy and ovaries out? I am pretty anxious to say the least. The ultrasound was done 4/16 and am scheduled to go back 5/28. I am hoping my new onc will refer me to a gyn oncologist. I wasn't too confident in my regular gyns office to handle this. Any insight would be appreciated!

I had US. And CT after throwing up and stomach pain that was in March 2015 before I started tamoxifen. They found I has swollen lymph node of small intestine and a term kid cyst on my right ovary. The Dr. Wanted to watch and wait on determining if cyst would resolve itself. It is now August. It is still there and I can feel it when I lie on my right side I also have lower back pain on right side and have to urinate often ( more than before) I am waiting for follow up CT but haven't heard anything yet for schedule. Has any one else had these symptoms before chemo and if so. What were your results ?

i had a hysterectomy for Grapefruit size cysts on both ovaries. I was on Tamoxifen for 10 years.

The report showed no cancer. I knew I could be facing breast cancer cells or another cancer such as ovarian.

My surgery was June 6, 2018.

I had a PET scan in March after the radiologist performing a biopsy suggested I have one [I had a recurrence of breast cancer in my left breast, unrelated to a diagnosis of bc in my right breast four years ago]. The PET scan revealed a large but ultimately benign cyst, which was removed via an oopherectomy in May. BRCA gene testing revealed I am negative for both BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. At 56, having my ovaries and Fallopian tubes removed was a no-brainer. It is a fairly uncomplicated surgery--done laporoscopically in my case. I am wondering about a connection between the anastrozole I took for 3.5 years and the development of the cyst. I hope you are doing well.

Kell001thanks for sharing, and glad it was benign. Just so you know, this thread hasn't been active for a few years, though you may have just reactivated it!

Dthayer welcome and thanks for sharing your story. So happy it was benign! Did you discuss the anastrozole and cyst connection with your med oncologist?
