Ultrasound Today ... What I know

Hi Everyone,

This afternoon I had the ultrasound of my lump. I won't receive results for the next day or two but this is what the tech told me today.

The lump is located in the centre of the indentation and isn't very deep, quite close to the surface. It is both solid and has some fluid. She showed me and it appears mostly solid with two small areas of fluid. There appears to be flecks inside the lump.

She said that the radiologist will compare it to my previous mammograms and ultrasounds and will more than likely request a biopsy.

Hopefully I hear something tomorrow.

When I do receive the call, can you recommend any questions that I can ask about the results so that I have a better idea what they think.

Thank you,

Carrie

Prayers for you, Daring, that your dx is B9.

I have my mammo & UA tomorrow and I'd love to know the same.

Also - I'm wondering what the general experience is with the mammo/UA - it sounds like most (?) end up having a biopsy but at the UA they give a BI-RAD grade that gives an indication of what they think it might be. Is this correct-ish?

Do they ever send you home from the mammo/UA with a hearty pat on the back and a, "All good. See you in a year"?

I haven't told my DH about all this yet. I'm banking on the 80% change it's B9 and the fact he's in a very stressful time at work - this week in particular. I planned to tell him tomorrow night (Friday) and I'm wondering what level of info I could expect to have for him (roughly speaking). Trying to balance freaking him out (he'll freak more than me, for sure) and keeping important health information from my spouse.

Thank you all for this wonderful community!

    Daring and Whitley,

I know this is a very scary time and you have many questions. However, until you get a biopsy, they really can't tell you much. They can only tell you something looks suspicious, and why it looks suspicious. Most biopsy comes back B9, so I wouldn't tell any one that may freak out until you have scheduled a biopsy...and tell them it is usually B9. People on this forum with Birad 5 have results that came back B9. I didn't even check my Birad score b/c I scheduled a biopsy the same week of the mammo/US after they told me to get it. Try to get a biopsy ASAP so you don't have to worry yourself to death.

    Good Morning,

Had my ultrasound Wednesday afternoon and receive a call Thursday morning from the breast health clinic. Everything looks good! The lump is a hematoma, combination of tissue and clotted blood that I apparently got after the lumpectomy I had in Nov 2016. It's possible that it's been there and has just grown in size. I have lost 25lbs since then and with the weight loss, the lump is now palpable. I have a follow up appointment for an ultrasound and to see the Dr at the breast health clinic in December.

    I am so relieved!!

@whitleypark how did everything go? Did they tell you anything? I'm hoping that you too received good news!
