Hello All,

So I'm 25 and my non biological cousin just passed from breast cancer. I have no biological family history of cancer..however, been checkin my boobs constantly the past few weeks and noticed that my right nipple is retracting in just a bit. I feel no lumps and the only pain now is from soareness from messing with my boobs lol my nipple still gets stimulated and fills back out. I have an appoinment with my OBGYN later this month. Im trying to stay off google but im literally freaking out and having flashbacks from her issues.

Nchapman - Don't freak out until you get it checked out. You did the right thing to make an appt. Keep yourself busy. It is probably nothing.

Nchapman, at 25 your risk of breast cancer is extremely low, around 0.1%. That means that there's a 99.9% chance of this being anything other than cancer. Can it happen? Sure. I have an aunt who was diagnosed at age 24--in 1912! She lived well into her 90s and died of dementia.

Nipples come in all shapes and sizes. Most nipples poke out, but some turn in, called "inverted nipples." They are not dangerous and really don't cause trouble, unless you're trying to breastfeed.

You're doing the right thing having this checked, since its a new finding. We all need to be in touch with our bodies. But i would be very surprised to hear of a 25 yr old with no family history having breast cancer. Not that it can't happen, but it is very, very rare.

Thank you both so much! It does help my piece of mind knowing its most likely not a form of cancer.
