UGH - Mammo & UA Not Until Friday
So I found a roughly 1-2cm lump at 4:00 on my left breast about 3 weeks ago. That breast has been painful for a while - off & on for months. Sometimes sharp pain, sometimes more of an ache. I've also had intermittent pain in my left armpit area for months - maybe as much as a year. I skipped my last mammo so it's been right at 2 years.
I'm considered low risk - 49yo, no family history, BRACA unknown, etc. and I've spent lots of time on this forum reading how it's statistically nothing serious. I also tend not to make something a thing until it's actually a thing - such that when the hospital offered me an appointment this Friday for an 8:30 mammo & 2:00 UA - I thought that sounded fine. Then at the last second they offered my a Monday mammo & Tuesday UA. I quickly said that Friday is better since I don't work Friday's and it would be easier than jockeying my work schedule over 2 days.
Now I'm thinking it was stupid to not take the Monday/Tuesday. I haven't told anyone about the lump for said reason of not wanting to make a thing out of something that's statistically going to be nothing worrisome. Plus my DH's job is very stressful right now - this week in particular is a small nightmare. I figured I'd keep it to myself until Friday and see how it all plays out.
Anyhoo - I guess I just wanted to post here to thank everyone for all the helpful info on this board and to wish everyone here my best. The stories are very inspiring and the love of the community is evident. One of the great things I learned on this forum - aside from the fact my lump is likely nothing serious - is Kitted Knockers! I'm a knitter so I thought this could be a good way to give back to all the wonderful folks here and in my community. I ordered a kit from Craftsy and shall get started knitting knockers this weekend!

Good luck at your mammo and US..it probably is nothing so don't worry to much ...I understand the being inpatient and wanting the tests sooner.I had my US and mammo on the 23rd of May and the radiologist that day told me I had to have a biopsy so today I have my biopsy.Hopefully you won't get that far ...but it has been a long wait from the 23rd till now...

Shell is right. Try not to worry, the US should give you a lot more info. I know that can be easier said than done though. I had a diagnostic mammogram & US on the 23rd & was told I needed a biopsy. Bi-rads 4. Unfortunately I have to have surgery to get the lump removed & I have that on Thursday & I have to wait until the 25th to get the results. At first I was like “this is no big deal, they're idiots" & as the weeks have gone by I've started to worry. Waiting is a nightmare. Btw, I’m a knitter as well.Today I go in for my preop. Good luck today Shell!

Thank you Whitley.
Sorry to hear that Shell. Hopefully you’ll know very soon about this biopsy & can put it behind you. This has been a horrible year for me & thankfully I do have vacation coming up next month that I desperately need at this point!

Whew! Made it through the week. Finally made it to (almost) Friday! Excited to get this mammo & UA done tomorrow. I'm very optimistic it's going to be nothing but just need to make it official. Haven't told my DH yet. Waiting until tomorrow so I can not worry him over nothing. One more night's sleep!

Just stalking the sites while I wait not so patiently for my biopsy results so thought I'd spread some cheer
Good luck today Whitley, hope it goes quickly and you get more info sooner rather than later!
Shell, any word back on your biopsy yet? Keeping my fingers crossed for benign results!
Southern, that stinks you have to wait that long to get results, hope pre-op went ok!
Take care ladies and hope the weekend treats you well
