question
I finished chemo in jan then did 6 weeks of rads. I have a new lump that plastics can't say for sure is fat grafting.. it's lower than where my grafting was done. So soon I hope to be off to mammo and ultrasound. I feel pretty sure it's fat necrosis but.. I've had crappy luck in the cancer dept ... Is it logical that it could be a new tumor so soon after treatment? If it is recurrence does this mean more chemo and or radiation?

hi mucki..i still had fat necrosis even 31/2 years post surgery.Even mine developed few days after completing radiation.Hence there is a pretty good chance that this is fat necrosis.Radiation causes fat necrosis.Dont take tension.Everything will be fine. When i discovered my fat necrosis lump there were calcifications on mammo which was biopsied and diagnosed with fat necrosis.

Well, I would ask fro imaging to confirm it. I say that because my PS told me that he was 99% sure my lump was fat necrosis or scar tissue, and not a recurrence. He told me he said 99, because he never says 100%. My gut told me otherwise, and it felt exactly like my first tumor. He did an excisional biopsy, and it was in fact a recurrence. I say that not to scare you, but so that you understand that they can never be 100% sure just by feel. Request an ultrasound, at minimum, so you know that it is in fact what they think it is.

thanks KBee I had ultrasound yesterday and he is not sure he can biopsy without rupturing my implant.. Mass is directly on top of it. I'm waiting on PS to call so we can discuss the next steps.. How soon after treatment were you dx again?

I recurred 14 months after the end of chemo.
My implant was under my pec, and my recurrence was between my pec and my skin. They did an excicional biopsy with my recurrence.
Hoping you get a plan to assess it soon.....and that it is benign
