Highly suspicious of malignancy

edited July 2018 in Waiting for Test Results

I got a mammogram on Monday. I knew something wasn’t right. My sweet Mary Poppin’s lady became serious. She said she clipped the picture so she had to take another. Then she took a very painful on of my nipple. Then the side of my boob. Then when she got to the other side she didn’t do my nipple but she did do the side. (Lump nodes). So I got a call later that day from my doc. They want a CT biopsy. I got a copy of the mammogram and it said “highly suspicious of malignancy” I have micro calcification 8cm and my lymph node is also affected. Cannot get the biopsy till this Wednesday and results can be 3-5 days. I think when this happens you should get a bottle of Valium and a bottle of sleeping pills. Enough for 2 weeks. I’m going crazy. Can’t make or anybody plan. Can’t tell my family. Any suggestions? My tumor is the size of a golf ball

I understand that feeling. Hang in and hope for good news. I am sure they can write prescription for meds to help with anxiety.

    Hi Nicole,

The waiting is the worst part! You will feel much better once you have more information. You may have either B9 findings, or if by chance it is cancer, you will be meeting with a team of doctors and come up with a plan moving forward. That will make you feel like you have a bit more control and not feel like you are walking around with blinders on in the dark.

    Hoping for the best!

Thank you! Biopsy on Wednesday. I would love it the radiologist told me like other women have said they were told by the radiologist

    • Hi Nicole,
    • I agree with others, Waiting is the worst.. I was told 80% chance benign from mammo, but US was suspicious for malignancy. I waited one week for Biopsy. I was also hoping for radiologist to let me know what she 'thought' either way. She did not do that, however I was picking up little things she said that led me to believe she was leaning towards it being BC. Partial results came back quickly which I was grateful for. I find this whole process to be a lot of tests, Dr appts..and then waiting some more. I think it does get easier, after the biopsy results are in though.
    • Hang in there, Positive vibes for B9 results! BTW, I was dx in April, still have not told many of my family or friends. Everyone is different, Do what is best for you.
    • Keep up posted please, Hugs...Cyn

    Nicole,

I am so sorry for everything you are going for you. Let us know if you need anything. It's hard keeping it a secret to the family, but I didn't tell my elderly parents, either. We are hear to listen. We will be praying for you. Good luck.

    Hi Nicole,

I am also sorry you are going through this. All of the waiting is truly torture. I will tell you that my anxiety got a little better after I met with the breast surgeon. Are you going through a breast center? I was just diagnosed on 6/1 not long after the biopsy. We will all get through this! Stay off of Google, try to keep busy. I found a lump a month ago but I am waiting to tell my grown daughters until I know all of the details. Make sure you have someone to share with so you dont suffer alone. This community has helped me and also reaching out to women I know who have walked this path. Praying for you. 🤗

Thank you Cindy. Yes, I’m going through a breast center. They assigned me a person. I’m just a worrier. I’m a 51 y/o single woman who supports my 31 y/o daughter and grandson. Just getting my ducks in a row financially. I can’t even look at Google anymore. I’ve read enough. I finally told the girls at work and my sister. This site helps so much. Thank you for your prayers. I will be praying for you also. Have you had surgery yet

it’s just so annoying. I hate not knowing. My doctor said her biggest concerns are that it’s spreading. I’m over these boobs. They can go now. I know I sound negative. I’m just frustrated. It will get better. I’m not afraid just want to know to I can prepare. Thank you for the support.

    Nicole,

It's a long journey and it will never completely go away. We understand your negativity and some women do want to just get rid of them and move on. You should stop googling and read about the different options on this website and be ready to ask Qs when you get the biopsy results. You seem to be a planner so keep yourself busy by reading some of the threads in advance. I read a book called Breast by Dr. Kristi Funk. It just came out and it will help you understand what is to come. She treated Angelina Jolie. It Also speaks about lifestyle changes you will need to make. I bought the Audiobook and listen to it all the time. It helped me a lot. Good luck

I don't know what CT stands for...I am having a fine needle biopsy but at one point the radiologist mentioned a core biopsy But they are going to do it with ultrasound...

hi all I had my biopsy I was very nervous and I was nervous for no reason the nurse was so nice she was right by my side the whole time ..the doctor explained every thing the numbing was a minor pinch nothing bad at all then some pressure and I had a core needle biopsy and when they took the actual specimens (3in total) it made like a clicking noise and then Dr put in the titanium marker said I was done and I would get results in 2-3 days and then I had to get mammo after due to they wanted to make sure the clip was placed correctly ...it was then I was on my way.....I stressed out so much about this biopsy when it was over I was so relieved...now the wait for the results ....

    Hi Nicole,

This all sucks, that is the plain and simple truth. Waiting makes it worse. Glad you are getting it done quickly, either way to get moving forward. I'm hoping for you for a benign outcome but whatever it is, we are here. In the past when I have had biopsies I did fine with it. Keep the ice pack they give you after on it for a while and keep doing it for as long as you need it.

I totally agree, valium or xanax. Something to calm down the mind. Should just give a small ziploc with enough to get through till results.

    Fingers crossed for you.

hello everyone I just got back from my biopsy. It looks not so good. My lymph node had Mickey Mouse looking ears on it not smooth hard black outer covering. They only biopsied the largest mass but said that it looked very irregular in shape. Just have to wait a couple days.
