Triple Positives staying Positive through it all
Hello, I'm in active treatment. Even though I accept my diagnosis, I refuse to be negative while dealing with such a negative process. Cancer treatments are long and difficult for all BC patients but especially long for us Triple Positive Gals. Questions and informative articles are welcomed. But keep in mind, long winded, pejorative, pointless, arguments, are neither helpful or welcomed. Please, please keep it civil, kind and helpful. Time is precious so let's use it to lift each other up!!!

I had another Herceptin/Perjetta treatment and I have the normal unwell but not horrific like chemo side effects. I almost decided not to go across the country as planned with my hubby. Glad I did, after infusion center from 7:15 to 11:00, yearly well woman check late afternoon, we headed out. Stopped for the night around midnight.
Woke up feeling better today. The sun is shining brightly and I'm glad I'm not at home. It is a bit of a shame but I was so tired of being home. I have a beautiful home but it was depressing like I was a shut in!!! I AM SO THANKFUL TO BE OUT! The United States are so pretty. When it's all said and done we will cover over 1100 miles of this wonderful country!
As a side note, we listened to an interesting talk about BC with 3 experts on NPR. We enjoyed it, lots of positive. hopeful information!!

Jjewel, why not! A nice trip after infusion sounds like a good plan. I always felt like a prisoner during chemo, staying close to home. You go

jjewel - have a great trip - it sounds awesome! Funny story about feeling shut in - after chemo and 17 surgeries total I had spent a LOT of time in my bedroom! I was having 17 people over for Thanksgiving and I was suddenly possessed by the need to change the décor in the bedroom - like, RIGHT NOW! I got a new comforter, throw pillows, curtains, a lamp, etc., and did it all on the day before Thanksgiving - I was buying a chair off the showroom floor in Pier 1 as they were getting ready to close before the holiday. My husband thought I had flipped my lid, but sport that he is, he starting immediately started putting up the new curtains, lol! I am happy I did it, and it is nice to have a fresh look in there!

Have an awesome trip, jjewel! Yes, it can be numbing to just stay indoors. Thankfully, it's not too hot to be outside right now for most of the day. Are you visiting any landmarks? Or, friends and family?

Yes, I am so happy to be out exploring in the Northeast today! We are here for business but we make a point to add in some fun while we are here! The town we are in has a lovely downtown area. We rented an apartment from a bed and breakfast place for a month. It's an old Victorian house and we have the entire 3rd (top) floor! I can't believe everything that's up here, huge kitchen with eating area dinette by window, bedroom with King bed, separate dining and living rooms and a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub!!!
On the drive, (we love having our own car and belongings on long trips) I had to keep making stops as the H/P infusions brought on the dreaded D. Fortunately, I was blessed with tidy bathrooms every time! Lol 😉
We just make adjustments and carry on these days! Enjoy your day all...

Hi Jjewel! How are you doing on your trip. Hope you are taking extra special care. When I had the Big D, which was often, it was super important to get some protein in me. Built up my strength & helped me heal. When it got too bad my MO prescribed an anti-diarrheal & had me taking that alternating with doses of Imodium on a more frequent basis. Can’t remember the exact schedule but the point is to not be afraid to ask. Keeping your strength up is so important. I hope you aren’t suffering that bad & I am certainly sending well wishes,
I am so glad you decided to go on that trip. A change of scenery is always uplifting. You traveled north & we went south over the Smokey mountains.....beautiful part of the country we hadn’t seen. This is our first extra long trip & so glad we decided to drive. Like you said it is nice to bring some of your own things. I even brought binoculars to watch wildlife from our balcony!
Have a great week! Hugs, Juli

Hi Juli, Yes, we are enjoying our time here. We are working on a business project but are off until Tuesday. We are in Ohio close to many Amish areas. Going exploring today even though it's raining ☔️. I'm feeling better but the flu like SE's have been worse than ever. I read a post where SpecialK said slowing the infusion helped. It reminded me they did speed up the H/P this time to 30 minutes each. Before we started with 90 minutes for Herceptin and 30 for Perjetta. My first chemo was Taxotere/Carbo/H/P. I had terrible reactions to Perjetta and Taxotere. It took 2 days at the Cancer Center. I had my limit of medication to counteract reactions and never finished 100% of the Taxotere. I did spend 8 days on the Oncology floor at the hospital shortly after. My MO changed my taxane to weekly doses of Taxol with H/P every three weeks. We slowed Perjetta to 60 minutes and sped up Herceptin to 60. I think I'll request 60 again for both and see if things improve next time. It may just be, I didn't realize the H/P was responsible for many SE's and not the Taxane.
All in all, it's manageable and I'm more than 1/2 through this part of the journey! 👏 Some have had it much worse, so I'm grateful. Thank you for reminding me I havea tote full of medications if I can't take care of this with diet! The BRAT diet usually helps me but no need suffering more than you have to, right!

Hello All of you who've posted! I'm thinking it would be best for everyone if we all resume with the Triple Posituve Group again. Since we all are already there, it makes sense. I'm not computer savvy enough to know how to delete a thread but I'll follow you on the Triple Positive Group. I think the important questions are best posted there. I'm happy things are going back to normal there......God bless all of you on your journeys! Looking forward to all the good info and support I find there................

Jjewel - no need to delete the thread - if nobody posts it will fade off the active topics relatively quickly. Looking forward to seeing you over on TP!

My family reunion will be this coming Saturday, I will be seeing all of my relatives that I havent seen in almost two years and I am so excited. Looking forward to delicious food and great company. I hope that my hair behaves!

Moodyblues, That's so fun! I'm excited for you. You deserve a nice reunion with all your extended family. It's been a tough year. I don't know about you but I appreciate things even more than I did before. Everyone will be so happy to be with you I'm sure! Are you finished with treatments? How long did it take for your hair to grow? I'm about 3 mos since chemo, still having H/P infusions. My hair is maybe 1" or 1&1/2". Did yours change?
