How sensitive have CT scans been to picking up your bone mets? I have had hip and low back pain (on one side) very consistent with bone met pain for months now. My oncologist is mildly concerned but not overly since I am not that far out of diagnosis or chemo. Both an x-ray and CT came back normal. I have heard MRIs are a better test, but I cannot have one since I still have my expander. I am just not sure whether to feel confident this pain is nothing or to be more concerned

A bone scan is most often used. Hoping the pain eases

I have never had a bone scan for mets, but do have PET scans. That is how my bone met was found and then confirmed by biopsy. i do not now nor have i ever had bone pain, so pain may or may not mean something. best wishes.

I had a CT done that came back showing 3 small spots on my spine, had a bone scan done and that came back "Likely degenerative disease or tiny bone islands". CT also found spot on my lung and will follow up in 6 months with another CT. Hope this helps. For the pain try magnesium, I use natural calm and have to say my wrist and back pain are some days nil. I am also doing Yoga to help with pain. Also, if you are on Tamoxifen or any of the AI's they could also be causing the pain.
