Why recheck mammo in six months for cyst?

Hi all. Just trying to figure out things about cysts. My mammo/ultrasound showed a cyst with debris. Recommended another one in six months. But they said it's not cancer or anything. So why do they need to recheck it? I'm 48 and never had a cyst before, so I'm curious about what to expect, ie will it go away, get bigger first, etc

It may well just sit there just like it is. They just want to make sure it stays stable. If it gets bigger or changes the might decide to biopsy it

I agree with MelissaDallas. They can't predict whether a cyst will grow or change, so they want to look at it again in 6 months. If it shrinks or goes away, yippee! No further testing. If the mammo detects growth or changes, the radiologist will determine what kind of further testing or treatment needs to be done.
