Hi ladies, so glad to have found this site.

I found a lump about 4 weeks ago, went to the DR right away. DR found 2 lumps and scheduled me for an ultrasound. Just got my ultrasound results back. Dr said it showed nothing. The lumps could not be seen at all during the ultrasound and my Dr said that concerned him.

My lumps have not changed at all with my period ( did not get bigger or smaller). My breast feels heavier on that side but nothing visibly different.

My dr said he wants me to wait for 3 months and then he will book an MRI and he said he wants them biopsied as well. He said he was concerned as he was pretty certain they aren't cysts.

My question is why do I wait for 3 months before the MRI? Is that procedure? Can I request to see a specialist or get and MRI sooner? I was shocked when he called me and didn't ask any questions.

that seems way too long. An insurance auth issue would take 1-2 weeks at most. If they’re booked, I’d choose a different imaging center.

sorry, I misunderstood that the dr is the one whowanted to wait. If he's concerned, i would be too and would not want to wait and would insist on doing it now. Especially for peace of mind

In my area, there are many imaging centers I literal can get in the next day. Check around yourself if doctors office won't. The imaging center at our large hospital is always heavily booked.

Did they do a mammogram or just the US? I would think that if your doctor was concerned enough to be discussing MRI assisted biopsy, then he would be ordering that now.

I would suggest getting a second opinion, perhaps with a BS in your area - especially if this doctor is a generalist.

I would ask for a referral to a breast specialist. Why should you wait 3 months for the MRI? Did you have a mammogram, too? If your doctor is concerned, then this should all be moving along.
