TailorX update: 11-25 onco score = no chemo

Thanks Wallycat. I found it interesting that they make the distinction between age 50 vs menopausal status. My oncologist took one look at me and said you are so young and healthy(ie, bmi, blood pressure, cholesterol etc). He was shocked I was 53 years old, well you know I had been post menopausal for almost 10 years prior. I did the hormone replacement therapy for 2 to 3 years and dropped it. I am happy with my personal choice of treatment.
To do some of the treatments suggested to me I would have to be really convinced they were going to be worth the risk.
I thought I had better clarify, before breast cancer diagnosis I was on hormone replacement therapy for almost 3 years and ditched it. I was concerned about taking it and the risks associated, I was not seeing any benefit. I will never know if that played a role in my bc diagnosis or not. But in general I prefer no drugs. Rather eat healthy and exercise.

I just saw this on the news. I was post-menopausal and 21 onco-score. I did 2.7 yrs of Tamoxifen. Since I didn't complete 5 yrs of Tamoxifen, I guess doing the chemo makes me feel better in my head, anyway! Lol. Can't change it now, anyway, but I'm glad for others, that they will have more information to make their decision than we did! Thanks to all who participated in the study!

I was a month shy of 50 and premeno....I'm starting year 11 NED (as far as I know) so maybe subdividing into pre/post meno isn't always right.

I don't know about this study, but when I got results from the Oncotype DX score it was 14. Even though I had 2 positive nodes I did not receive chemo. Living large 7 years later. Hope this study is informative, although I think they should have included people with 1 to 3 positive nodes, as that is the standard in Oncotype DX protocol.

pupmom, I am not positive, but when I was first dx and they did the DX scoring, I was told only if my nodes were clean.

This takes me back, 9 years ago having a 22 was high for not doing chemo. With a LOT of debate (and I had 1 node too) I elected not to do the chemo. It's funny I remember talking about how someday this study will come out. Now it's here. I really hope it simplifies a very stressful decision.

The RxSponder Trial will give us more information for those who are node positive. The study was started around the time I was diagnosed, so 7ish years ago. Not sure when it will be published.
