Fibrocystic breasts treatment

Hi. I'm 41. To sum up my problem, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 4 years ago. Last year I started getting severe sharp pain in my left breast and developped a large painful lump on the outer side near my armpit. While I have always had dense heavy, lumpy breast, the density and pain in the past year has increased drastically. My breasts have grown so much that none of my bras fit me. I had a mammogram done, an ultrasound, an small needle aspiration biopsy back in June of 2018. It showed I had some benign simple cysts, and axillary adenopathy . I have since seen an oncologist who prescribed me tamoxifen (took it for 2 months but wasn't helping and side effects were horrible), also too dostinex for a while, which helped a bit but had dimishing returns. I saw another oncologist who recommended I get the lump removed and get a biopsy on the whole mass. I'm waiting to get enough money to have breast surgery done. I plan to get a reduction to help reduce the size and weight of breasts and to remove the lump all at once. I have also been in the care of a naturopath for the past year and am taking supplements for my symptoms (Femguard , magnesium, vit B complex, flax,). I also have estrogen dominance. I have tried everything my naturopath has recommended, but to no avail. I eat clean, workout regularly, don't smoke or drink... It took me a while to convince my naturopath that I was hormonal, and made her retest me twice to confirm this. She diagnosed me with PMDD and then suggested I go on antidepressants. I refuse to take them but she keeps telling me there is no other option as natural remedies are not working. Why is my doctor trying to get me on antidepressants when I'm not depressed? Her second suggestion was birth control. I can't take any of these two options. Was on antidepressants in my 20's and it was horrific. Same with birth control. I don't respond well to these meds. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm at a loss. I am in constant pain, breasts keep growing and don't agree with my naturopath 's approach to medicating me. I eat loads of cooked cruciferous veggies, drink lots of water, i run, do yoga, surf, breathing exercises, i don't eat sugar, I tried Keto diet, tried GF diet,. Nothing is working. I can't wait to get breast reduction as my breasts are seriously affecting my life but I also know this won't resolve the hormonal imbalance. I am waiting for results of a urine hormone panel. Have been waking up at 4am feeling shaky and can tell its the cortisol that is high, also sometimes have bad night sweats. Anyone been through something similar? Just looking for answers. Thanks :)

Hello. I don't really have anything to contribute regarding your breast issue, but in regards to the hormonal problems--I have endometriosis and adenomyosis. My doctor believes, based on many symptoms, that I have excess estrogen as well that is contributing to that. I have been taking Prometrium, a natural progesterone, to try to help it. It isn't really helping my endo/adeno, but I have noticed some of my suspected estrogen-dominance symptoms have gotten a little better. Initially she wanted me to take birth control. I was uncomfortable taking one with estrogen in it so we tried a synthetic progesterone only pill. I responded awfully to it, scary depression, no appetite, headaches, etc. We then switched to the Prometrium, and I don't get any of those nasty side effects. I'm not sure if it would be right for you, but maybe something you could look into and talk to your doctor or naturopath about regarding the hormone imbalance. Good luck.

Knowing so little about your condition, I had to look it up. I'm unsure how you ended up at an oncologist. Have you been given a full work up by a general practitioner? So many things cause your issues, you need to get to the bottom of the swollen nodes. Best of luck to you!
