Now 14 years later with Stage IIIC

The month of May is a bit of 'old home week'.......with many of the "old timers" popping in with their cancerversaries......

We saw 7 years (hopefour).......... 12 years (sugarplum/Julie)........ 13 years(lkc/Linda)........and mine now with 14 years out.

Someone asked me why do I still come back to the boards.....is it the fear that keeps me coming back? This couldn't be the farthest from the truth.

Those of us that started way back when and used this site....didn't have the Stage III Forum as a stand alone forum. We had to hunt and peck our way through posts trying to find someone.....anyone that had some diagnosis that was close to ours. It wasn't easy (if at all) to find people years out with a Stage III diagnosis. I had to search outside to find two people that had a cancer as bad as mine through a friend and a doctor. With a huge 8cm tumor and at least 17 nodes positive.....no clear margins.....COX 3+++.....in my skin....it was hard to find some light deep in the darkness of a cancer diagnosis...and with young children. So... the reason I come back....and I am sure the others....is to shine that light....to give that hope......that if all of us can do well.......you can too. Finding those two women at the beginning of my diagnosis helped me to simply --- put one foot in front of the other.... they were literally life savers.

I pray some day in the very near future that hope comes in the form of a cure.......but until then..... I wish for you that our stories give you hope in the meantime. Keep living & loving.....don't let cancer take any more from you.

Fists up,

Jacqueline

Jacqueline, as I keep saying: you are the center of OUR world. I too have been inspired by your posts for lo, these many years - it's been great to hold hands with you across cyberspace! And yes, you nailed it - when we Stage IIIs were diagnosed, it was indeed a bleak lonely landscape we faced. Now we've become part of this forum with so many women who really get each other.

    Long may our journey continue...

    Julie

What a great post, Jacqueline! Congratulations on a tremendous milestone! And congrats to all of the other lovely ladies who are reaching their own big milestones! There are so many of us out here who are thriving and living our lives large! I do believe it is important that we come back to offer encouragement and hope to others. That is the reason I come here and post. To give hope.

Jacqueline, I'm not stage 3, but when I was just beginning my treatment I came up on some of your posts, and you gave me such hope. I had chemo first, and not knowing where I stood was hard, but I kept coming back and reading your posts. Whenever I was down, I would come back and read your posts, and my burden felt lighter.

Congrats on your 14 years. And thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting and shining that light to all of us.

Thank you for the post Jacqueline, it does spur a lot of hope for all of us here. I was diagnosed exactly 3 years ago with 20/24 positive nodes and was completely devastated but hey, I just passed my mammo and blood test yesterday and thankful that I am still here. Only 3 years and counting and hoping to be where you are at right now. Wishing you and all the ladies here continued health.
