Recommendations for Austin, TX specialists?

I was just diagnosed with IDC last week and have consultations in San Antonio soon, but I'd also like to find some specialists closer to home.

Does anybody have recommendations for surgical oncologists or breast surgeons in the Austin area? What about oncologists? Thanks.

    Hi Maryjen,

    Dr. Robert Askew was recommended to me by my longtime ob-gym and several doctor friends. I just love him— an excellent surgeon and person and will spend all the time you need answering questions

    Texas Oncology is excellent— particular oncologists is recomment are Beth Gellersyedt in Round Rick and Dr. Debra Patt in Austin.

    Hi there, I had Dr Jane Nelson with Austin Cancer Center do my surgery. She doesn't always have the best bedside manner, but is very knowledgeable, thorough and has a lot of experience. I am glad you started this thread, because my MO with ACC just left and I need to find a new MO. I have been googling and also saw Beth Hellerstedt and Debra Patt. I will probably go to Hellerstedt since she is closer to where I live. Good luck!

    On another note, jump on over to the Hill Country Warriors thread if you ever want to meet up with some of the local ladies. We get together every few months for brunch or lunch, just to visit and catch up. Everyone is welcome!:)) Or, you can always PM if you would like.
