The wait begins....
Hi all,
Following ultrasound last week where my lump was confirmed as a 3cm lump with irregular borders with an enlarged lymph node and described as a “highly suspicious” lump, today I had mammogram, lymph node fine needle biopsy and 3 x core needle biopsy in breast lump.
Apart from feeling sore I am obviously worried/nervous/frightened.
Doctor who performed mammogram and biopsy said the findings are very worrying...should I just accept the fact it is BC?
Both doctors from ultrasound and today’s tests said the same statement so I fear the worst and feel it’s highly unlikely to be B9....

Sorry you are going through this Aussieprime. No magic words to tell you not to worry. Unfortunately the waiting game sucks, big time. I hope for you it is B9 but if it turns out differently you will learn what your are dealing with and will fight it.
You certainly can hold onto it being benign, nothing is 100% until everything is in, so why give into it just yet.
Whatever helps to distract you while you wait, do it. Stay off of Dr. Google.
Please keep us posted. Wishing you the best possible outcome.

regarding lymph nodes: I had no lymph node involvement , or vascular invasion as well as clear margins with my breast cancer. Supposedly it was all removed with surgery. I am now doing 4 rounds of AC, and 4 rounds of taxol, which dramatically decreases the reoccurrence rate. My question is this: can breast cancer spread without being in the lymph nodes or vascular system?? I didn’t think so? I was on another breast cancer site earlier talking with someone who said she has bones Mets front her breast cancer But she had Clear lymph nodes. She said it traveled through her blood. Now im really scared and I wasfeeling really good about my prognosis. My Dr didn’t feel i needed a body scan without my diagnosis. I had To beg my Dr for chest ct scan which was clear. Any info or advice I sent welcome!!

Aussieprime,
Waiting has been, by far, the worse of the entire experience for me.
I wish I had words of wisdom for you.
I did learn to meditate during this time, using two iPhone apps (Calm and Headspace). I found it helped me get control of my emotions when I felt uncontrolled. It didn't take away any of the anxiety, but it helped to control my response to it. Also, I didn't sleep well during this time, so I went to bed early and snuck in a nap whenever I could. Being well rested helped keep my emotions in check as well.
Just know that what you are going through is normal. And you are not alone in those feelings. The emotional game of waiting is grueling!
And I agree with not doing too much research until you have more information. you don't want to worry yourself with worse-case scenarios when you don't even have it confirmed. Also remember, if does end up malignant, there are excellent treatment options these days. Women don't often die of breast cancer anymore. It's not a death sentence, just a rocky road for a while.
Hang in there, Robin

Aussieprime,
Our situations sound the same. I had my biopsy today. Radiologist mentioned it looking suspicious and that I will definitely be needing surgery. Praying for you.
