Only 19- should I be worried?

As the titles says I am only nineteen but I have growing breast cancer concerns. I have a reddish pinkish rash covering the majority of my right breast. It did not respond to antibiotics or changing my soap. It may be fading away but that could just be my wishful thinking. I've seen two doctors, on who said it was just a rash and one who prescribed the antibiotics. I've noticed today my nipple on the affected breast seems to not get hard when the other does, could this be another symptom (inversion?) or am I just being to paranoid? I plan on scheduling another appointment next week and seeing if I can convince them to give me a biopsy, if not just to ease my mind. Can anyone offer any insight into what other things I could be experiencing, or have any advice on getting my concerns taken seriously at a young age?

    Dear Keyorca,

We are so sorry that you find yourself here with these worries and concerns. It is rare that someone your age would be diagnosed with breast cancer. There are a number of reasons for developing skin rashes that are not at all related to cancer. If in fact the rash is fading then that is a good sign. Regardless, our members always advise to seek a doctor's opinion about any breast change because we are not able to diagnose here. Perhaps a return trip to your doctor if the rash does not continue to fade or a consultation with a dermatologist might help to resolve the issue. The Mods

I was prescribed a second round of antibiotics that also did nothing, so guess I'm going to go to a dermatologist with my fingers crossed!

My suggestion is to show this to a dermatologist. There are a million NON-cancer skin things this could be. The chances of this being breast cancer are essentially ZERO. (not to mention that breast cancer doesn't get better on its own, only worse.)

Thank you, I went to a dermatologist and they did two punch biopsies, which I'm still waiting for. The lab asked to run additional tests on them which delayed the results.

Hopefully the biopsy will give an answer that it is something easily treatable.

The doctor's believe it is either Reticular erythematous mucinosis (REM) or Tumid Lupus, so I need to have blood work done when I get my stitches removed. Definitely not cancer though. Thanks everyone for helping guide me through this scary experience, I wish you all the best!

So glad it's not cancer. I hope they can get to the bottom of it so you can get appropriate treatment. Good luck!
