Heavy, long bleeding post chemo (endometrial cancer?)

Options

Hi lovely ladies! I could really use a pick me up. I usually don't like to turn to internet for those things, but maybe someone had similar experience. I have just gotten my first period after chemo. I am 31 years old and hormone negative (treatment for breast cancer). My period is ongoing for almost 3 weeks, very heavily. I have been to ER twice, got pelvic ultrasound and blood transfusion. My gyn did endometrial biopsy and my endometrial wall is thickened (12 mm). I am very worried I have endometrial cancer. I am not sure when will my obgyn call me back with results, but is there maybe someone who had similar experience?

Hi Alex: I know it’s hard to wait for results. I had endometrial cancer last year, but my symptoms were very different — lots of discharge and spotting in peri menopause. My lining was thick, but I’d been on tamoxifen for 9 years.

Endo cancer is pretty rare. 1% risk, raised to 2% by tamoxifen, so keep that in mind. There are lots of reasons for thick linings and heavy menstrual cycles that aren’t cancer.

Hang in there. Maybe call your gyn tomorrow and ask when results are expected?

    Peace to you,

Thank you mom-mom, I actually read one of your posts earlier today. I had some discharge, but only once and my doctor told me not to worry about. I am also not on tamoxifen, nor I was talking lupron. So that is why I am a bit worried. Also, my breast cancer was technically rare. There is also chance that this is caused by all months of chemo. I am, however, going to call them tomorrow to ask for timeline. Thank you darling!
