Time radiation effective after surgery - exchange?

I am supposed to start radiation on June 5 -my plastic surgeon is wanting to go on an exchange for my tissue expanders this week, my oncologist Is wanting me to do radiation first, the plastic surgeon and radiation oncologists says it's okay to wait the additional

Few weeks? - so it would be an additional two weeks from my starting date of radiation if all goes well , I can't find anywhere if this is okay and could affect my treatment of cancer which is most important?i want it over with but don't want to risk if there is a timeframe? My surgery was April 19- I am full expanded? Please help

Hi! I am assuming you've had chemo from your diagnosis...my RO said I had to start radiation within 12 weeks from the end of chemo. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much I could not find a time frame anywhere and have different opinions from different doctors, I did do chemo 20 weeks before surgery 3 weeks later.

I think they prefer to do radiation sooner but based on research the standard of care is 12 weeks. Waiting 12 weeks didn't negatively affect outcomes.

I had radiation after my exchange my PS prefers it that way for a better cosmetic outcome. I was told if I wanted nipples that would need to be done before radiation, I chose not have it done so now it's no longer an option and I'm ok with that. My radiated side is tighter than the other and has not settled yet but I'm only about 1.5 months out from rads. Hope this eases your mind a little.

thanks for your response - I am worried about timeframe if the little cancer cells if left would travel by putting it off/. My oncologist is the one who doesn’t want me waiting the extra 2 weeks .
