Hi everyone!

I'm writing this because I'm a little worried. About 2-3 months ago I experienced a breast cycst in my left breast. It turned out to be an infected sebaceous cyst. After a week or so, pus started to drain from the area. Because it was infected, My doctor numbed the area, slightly cut me open and removed it. I went home with antibiotics. Fast forward to now. My breast have been sore for a week. But that’s expected because I’m a due for my period. Well I have because very aware of my breasts now and so I was “feeling around” and a found a lump on my RIGHT BREAST. The location of the lump is almost identical to last lump (right under my breast in the crease where’s my underwire sits). It’s tender to the touch and I think it moves? It seems to “disappear” when I push on it and “reappear” right after. It is pretty painful. I am 26 years old and this worries me because it’s in the opposite breast from last time. It is possible to keep getting cysts? Could this be something else? This is so stressful. I’d appreciate any feedback. Thanks so much

Yes, its possible. Over the years I've had them in both breasts. Left breast aspirated; right breast, left alone and went down in size, gone now I believe. But ease your mind, call on Tuesday to be seen.

If I'm not mistaken, I think my cysts had a correlation to caffeine intake. I had fibrocystic breasts.

Yes, entirely possible. Some people are just prone to cysts all over their body, not just breasts. Since its bothersome, perhaps have your GP look at it.

Thanks for the responses so far! I didn't realize having multiple cysts were some common. That makes me feel a little better! I forgot to mention that I have an appointment on Thursday with a dermatologist (to look at a mole). I was wondering if I should mention my breast lump to my dermatologist? Because if it is a cyst wouldn't a dermatologist be able to tell?

Yeah, I'd have him take a look at it while you're there.

Technically, the sebaceous cyst is not the same thing as a breast cyst (within your breast.)It is a skin cyst that just happened to be on your breast.

My MO calls me ‘cysty’ and they find them almost everytime I have imaging done. They feelexactly as you described. I asked if coffee caused them and the doctor said that there is no scientific evidence correlating coffee to cysts, but that he’s had too many cysty coffee drinking women through his office not to believe there isn’t a correlation. Like the others have said, get any lump checked out, but at your age cysts are so common, cancer isn’t.

    Melissa,

True, if this is a sebaceous cyst (fingers crossed) this would be a skin issue and not necessarily a breast issue (thank God!) however I’m just a little worried because it seems to keep happening on my breast. This makes me what to stop wearing wearing underwire bras altogether. I feel like that’s what’s causing the cysts. I do have a history of getting boils on my thighs that had to be lanced. So maybe that’s all related to the cysts? Maybe i am having bad skin issues that hopefully my dermatologist can help me with

    Egads,

I am just now realizing how common this is. I never knew so many people have the same issue. I drink coffee occasionally so idk if thats the case for me. I will have my dermatologist check it out on Thursday. Hopefully it’s just another cyst.

They are, essentially, zits. You have skin issues, not breast issues
