Hello Community!

Just today I did an ultrasound and I have been told it is most likely fibroadenoma. I have two nodules, one hard that I can feel it by pressing on the nipple and the other one on the same breast that was detected via ultrasound today. I will b going for a biopsy of both on Monday. Crossing fingers

My question is the following: Exactly 8 months ago I did a mamgraphy and it came out clear. Now, they have detected these two nodules. If this were to b a malignant tumour, wouldn’t it have shown on the mammogram? From what I understand it takes for a tumor 2-3 years to b finally seen in imaging..So I am hoping for the fact thst nothing was seen 8 months ago, then my nodules are most likely fibroadenoma and not cancerous?THANK U for your reply .

Dela, we're sorry that are here and worried, but wanted to say welcome!

Benign lumps and tumors can feel and grow differently... but biopsy is the only way to know if a suspicious breast change is cancer. You can read about what to expect in the Biopsy section of the main Breastcancer.org site.

We're crossing fingers for benign results! If it helps ease your mind, here's an article from our main site where you can read about the different benign conditions that can come from testing: What Mammograms Show: Calcifications, Cysts, Fibroadenomas.

Good luck with biopsy tomorrow! Please, come back to let us know how it goes.
