Hi everyone, I’m 18 and super worried about a red mark that appeared on my breast around 3 months ago. A few days later I had lumps appear. In that time I have been to a doctor who said that it looks like a skin problem and prescribed me steroid cream and that the lumps were natural and probably due to the pill I had started. I used that for 7 days and it had really no effect on the mark and the lumps did disappear. Over the 3 months the mark has gotten slightly bigger but is not puckered and doesn’t show any other symptoms. I have a check up next week but i am so worried it is something bad! I can barely look at it in the mirror or shower because it’s been scared me to look at it so much!

Get a referral to a dermatologist if your primary doctor thinks you need it. Do you know any eighteen year olds with breast cancer? No? Me either. Breasts are the perfect place for skin issues because they stay warm & damp. Skin issues are common. The ofds of this being "something bad" at eighteen are pretty much zero.

Thank you for replying, I know that the chances are very slim and my worries completely cleared up after my doctor prescribed me the steroid cream. It’s just the fact that the cream didn’t help brings all the worries back! Thank you for the extra reassurance

Your chances of this being cancer are not just very slim, they are essentially ZERO. However, our breasts can develop all kinds of weird-but-benign lumps bumps, rashes, and dimples--especially young breasts!

You are barely past puberty. This is far more likely to be either hormone-related or some minor skin something.

    Hi Natdwh,

I'm not sure if you will ever see this but I was wondering if your spot ever went away? I have had a similar spot for almost 5 months.

Hiya! My mark did eventually go away! At my check up I was given a steroid cream to use for 7 days but it had no effect on the mark so I went back for another checkup. My doctor told me that I should just use it for another 7 days and after that it disappeared! She said it could have been anything from eczema to just natural discolouration. I was also diagnosed with fibrocystic breasts and pcos and was told it could have been down to hormonal changes! If you’re worried definitely go the doctors for a checkup to ease your mind though!

Thank you for sharing! I am waiting on skin punch biopsy results on mine. It's driving me nuts. Almost 5 freaking months with no logical or verified explanation. I was nursing and quit to see if it would change anything...not really. Maybe slightly faded but still very visible. I have been putting tea tree oil and lavender oil on it, no change. It's exhausting. I have some anxiety over it. Hopefully it goes away like yours did!
