Hand dryers in public bathrooms

Options

After DCIS treatments, I have had two spots of skin cancer removed on my face with Moh's procedure.

I am wondering about the hand dryers in public bathrooms that blow heated air on your hands, and some of them have some kind of light inside the machine as it blows.

Anybody heard about the lights and possible exposure to harmful rays?

I have heard that the blowers are dirtier than paper towels as the blowers blow bacteria and dirt onto your wet hands.

However, I wonder about the heating elements and the lights inside the machine.

I know it is not breast cancer related but has anyone heard about any harmful effects of the blowers in the bathrooms?

I don't know about the light in some dryers (Dyson's, I think) but I've read that they just blast any bacteria or whatever into the air where they can be inhaled, and I imagine they land on hard surfaces, too. Also, I think the Dyson's use room air and don't have a heating element. I imagine other brands do have them. I hate air hand dryers - give me towels any day. I usually end up wiping my hands on my slacks.

I'm not sure that your exposure to any sort of light coming out of a restroom hand dryer would amount to anything. And I think it's uv light for germ killing, but for how long are your hands actually in there, and how often? You probably get more uv exposure walking from your car into the building.

    Honestly wouldn't worry about it!
