lump less than a month after clear mammo

I had a screening mammogram on April 26th, which came back clear. Last week, I noticed a lump about the size of a BB, It feels round and hard. I went to my primary care on the 23rd (this past Weds) and they got me in to have a diagnostic mammogram and an ultrasound. The nurse practitioner at my doctor's office promised to call me as soon as she got results, which the radiology office thought should get there so that I had them before the long weekend. I haven't received a call, so it will be Tuesday at the earliest.

When they did the diagnostic mammogram, the tech showed the images to the radiologist to be sure they didn't need additional. She had mentioned that they do ultrasounds because either the mammo shows nothing and they want to see what's there or because it shows something and they need more information. I had the ultrasound and the tech concentrated a lot on the area where this lump is located (about 10:00 on L Breast close to the skin, but definitely not a skin issue). The tech told me as I was leaving, "from a tech's perspective, I wouldn't worry," which made me feel better, but now I am starting to second guess that.

Does anyone have any perspective on this? I am worried.

    When I was diagnosed, the radiologist told me that nothing is sure until the biopsy results come in, but he was pretty certain that I had BC. The techs see hundreds of these mammos. If they say don't worry, dont

    I agree with Jacobs. If the tech told you that they must have had a good idea it wasn't anything to worry about.

    Its very frustrating to have to wait for results. I understand that! I had my biopsy done prior to a weekend. So I understand.

    I felt a hard small bump like that too a year ago. They did mammo (saw nothing) and ultrasound and told me before I left that I needed to schedule a biopsy.

    When they do ultrasounds they can check the mass for a blood source. They saw it on my mass.

    So I know every mass is different. But that was my experience. Not sure if that helps any

    You did the right thing and got it checked out....unfortunatly you hit the crappy weekend. I did the 2nd time around....if I ever have another biopsy I have promised myself to schedule it on a Monday. lol

    To be honest...I have gone through this twice now....with 3 seperate malignant dx. I NEVER left the office with out being told I should have a biopsy when later it was confirmed. Some have been urgent...some not so much. When I went back another time I asked if they knew the first time....they admitted they did.

    Who knows for your situation...but the fact that the doctor didn't come in immediatly is a good sign imo. :)

    I got a call from my doctor's office on Tuesday morning, first thing, telling me I have a benign cyst, no cancer. I am having the cyst out on June 5th.
