Dimpling in lower left boob, lumps and shape change oh my!
hi, I’m new here. After spending most of today lurking I figured I should intro. I’m ashtog, I’m 33 and I’m a mom to 5 kids and an angel baby who was born sleeping at 39weeks on may 1st 4 years ago. I guess that’s where it starts? I was breastfeeding my youngest up til 4 months ago, my left breast was always the lower producer this go around, so when I noticed it’s shape changing from normal to somewhat square and the dimpling, I just chalked it up to weird breastfeeding stuff. But then I quit breastfeeding and it was stil there. I know I’m younger than most who get BC, but I had a scare years ago and I am vigilant about self exams, and because I hadn’t found any lumps I kept thinking it was fine. Except.. it was always in the back of my mind, nagging me to follow up. So I did, yesterday I went to see my dr. He gave me the you’re too young speech and then did an exam. He told me my left Breast is lumpy (exact words callously thrown out) but righty is fine. He said he thinks it’s not cancer because of my age but he made a referral and they called today and they’re getting me in next week which is definitely odd for here (in Canada we get in 6 months later if we’re lucky) so that freaked me out too)
ANd dr Google says it’s definitelh cancer, so that’s helpful too.
Thanks for letting me rant, scared if I’m being honest. Mainly because he found a lump, and I didn’t.

hello Ashtog the Internet is a scary place so it would be in your best in treat to stay away for a while.
When you say dimpling what do you mean orange peal type or indents?
I ask because if we are talking about indentation then I know how you are feeling. I along with Many others know how Google only shows scarry answers for this scenario. What Google fails to share is that many bening things can cause this too. I have read of many women on this platform who present with this issue who in the end have either something benign or nothing at all. And like they have told me most people especially on this platform share the "negative" as opposed to the possitive.
It's a great thing you are getting checked out and having imaging done. Don't be scared to ask for imaging until you feel satisfied with the results. And keep track of any change until you are seen.
Also try to keep in mind that the vast majority of breast changes in younger women are do to benign processes.
I wish you so much luck and hope everything turns out ok for you. Please keep us up to date on what happens.😊😊❤❤

Ashton, we're sorry that you find yourself here and in this situation, but we are so glad that you reached out. Breast changes are very common in young women, and even if it's a benign mass, should always be checked by a doctor. In the following article from our main site you'll learn more on different non cancerous conditions that can come from testing:
Hope this helps! We know the waiting is the hardest part, but take a deep breath and try to stay positive. And please, keep us posted!
Best wishes,
The Mods

@giselle20 thank you! It’s the indentation type, not the peau d’orange.
I know most people don’t update when it’s positive and the internet is so scary, that said all the lurking has helped a lot too.
I will definitely update one way or the other.
@moderators thank you I’ll check out that link

oh I just wanted to add that the dimpling is more noticeable when I raise my arms above my head, also I took a photo from underneath looking up and you can see that it even looks misshapen that way too. Sorry, I know only a dr can tel me, and I know worrying won’t fix it but I can’t do much else. Thankfully my apt is a week from today

As you've probably deduced by now, Dr. Google got his degree online. He is not to be trusted. Your real doctor has been to a legit medical school, done internship and residency, and other doctory stuff.
As you know, your risk is very, very small, less than 2%. Not zero, of course, which is why you need further testing. Don't read anything into the rapidity of getting an appt--that means nothing. Also, don't beat yourself up about not finding your own lump. That is not uncommon. Mine was found on a routine mammo only 3 weeks after my doctor performed a manual breast exam. Darn thing was big as a cherry and we both missed it!
Try to keep busy in the meantime. Don't give in to the fear--grieving something that has not happened, and may NEVER happen is a waste of your life and your children's lives. It's not cancer until pathology proves it!

mustlovepoodles I like your style! And I love poodles (all dogs really). Yes, I think I am ready to kick dr google to the curb, and with 5 kids and a thriving photography business it’s not hard to keep busy lol.
It’s definitely nice to have a place to talk about concerns though. I know my risk is so small but it doesn’t stop me from feeling worried. Not at the grieving stage though thankfully

Well, of course you're worried. There's nothing quite like finding a lump to freeze you in your tracks. Google has been scaring women since its inception. Everything "breast" leads to "breast cancer", as if it's a forgone conclusion. Except chicken breasts. That leads to yummy recipes..
-
mustlovepoodles isn’t that so frustrating and unfair?? Like how come if I google “dimpled Breast, lumps NOT cancer it still comes up as cancer??” I think dr google has been drinking on the job lol.
Also, pretty sure chicken breast is what’s on the menu today.

hello, any update? I too found an indent on my breast & it's noticeable when bending over. It is like the tissue breaks a part a little and looks bluish on the spot. I have an US tomorrow bc I am 28 and they say they usually don’t do mammograms under 30. google is not my friend
all I've done is cry! I suffer from anxiety and so this has made it worse unfortunately: -
hi nervouskay,
I had updated on a separate thread, but didn’t think to come back here. There was nothing in my ultrasound or mammogram, although the dr wants me to come back in 6 months to do another ultrasound because of a small cluster of cysts. In my case it wasn’t Breast cancer, I am hopeful of the same outcome for you!
I also have anxiety, I know how hard it is to live with. Crossing everything for you

dont Google that is always bad ...are they doing ultrasound mammo or MRI next week?
