Triple positive ER PR and HER/2 IDC chemo or not?

Hi TTW, you are just about the age I was when I was diagnosed 9 years ago. I am triple positive and there are many new treatments for this. TTW--what worked for me was just to spend a lot of time here on BCO reading various threads, and particularly looking at individual's dx's and accompanying tx's. I knew what would be recommended for me before I ever met with an MO. Meow--I pushed back pretty hard on overtreatment. Did *hours* of research, including many PMs with very knowledgeable women on this site. One of my common questions was about getting Herceptin without the Taxol. I believe they work in tandem--there are some small studies on H alone, but not enough data to have that as a standard tx. In the end, I decided that while getting T+H assumes that there are still cancer cells in my body, I came to think of it as an insurance policy. I also believe that it would have been a little like living with something always on my shoulder, particularly at the semi-annual mammos, if I hadn't decided to do the recommended tx. I do think it's heavy hitting for not much bump up in probabilities, but I am at peace with my decision.

Anyway. TTW--do your due diligence. This is very much about processing information and arriving at a decision you can be at peace with.
