Nipple Redness (Unilateral, reoccuring)
Hello all,
I am a 30-yo female with some nipple symptoms that I just want to bounce off the community. Over a year ago, my left nipple began to turn red surrounding the lower region of the areola along with some minor swelling. This stayed for a couple months followed by unbearable itching only on that nipple for a few months as well. I would constantly be itching the nipple through my bra. I do not recall any scaling or flaking of skin at that time. I went to my regular physician because this seemed abnormal to me and upon looking at my breast and palpating it, she felt there was nothing to worry about because of my age and health history.
Fast forward and about a month ago I started to notice that outer margin turning a little pink again on the bottom. I noted it but ignored it since I had no itching or pain aside from what I would attribute to my period nipple pains. I am currently in no pain but now I have a red spot about the size of a quarter on my skin next to my areola. Again, it is not flaking and not warm to the touch. Is this something anyone else has experienced? I've never been pregnant or breastfed and don't have any systemic systems that would suggest mastitis, however I would say the redness looks similar to the redness you'd see on the surface of the breast with mastitis. Does this seem dissmilar to what you'd experiece with Paget's? Since last time my doctor felt there was nothing to worry about, I am not as inclined to go in about the same thing without true warrant.
Thanks for any insight!

I can't answer anything about Paget's but you can always see a dermatologist first to rule out normal skin issues such as eczema

Sounds like you need a dermatologist.

Before getting worried about cancer, you should look for medical help. Remember that it can be eczema or psoriasis. I have eczema since a few years ago. Finding a treatment that actually worked for my type of skin and eczema was a whole journey! Finally, I discovered foderma and the results have been amazing!

Thank you everyone. I ended up getting referred to a dermatogist who suggested a punch biopsy almost 2 weeks ago but didn't think it was vital.
Results came back today and they suspect T-Cell Lymphoma but it was inconclusive. Anyone deal with an initial inconclusive biopsy? I assume they wouldn't say what they think it is cancer if it was nothing, right?
She's referring me to a specialist in this type of lymphoma for my questions. I'm just so confused now on what to think. Anyone had a similar experience where they say they think it's cancer but cannot confirm yet? Anyone had it turn out not to be cancer on a subsequent biopsy?

There is a T-cell lymphoma of the skin, click here for one site that describes it. Has a recent mammogram report mentioned enlarged lymph nodes? Have you had any abnormal blood tests?
-
djmammo-- I have never had a mammogram. Maybe they will have me get one later, but from what the dermatologist said, she made the next step sound like I could get an additional biopsy now, or wait 6 months to see if anything progresses and take a biopsy then. I haven't decided anything yet since I want to talk to the specialist first.
I haven't had any abnormal blood tests recently which is good. Hopefully the issue is localized only.
