    Hi all,

just wanted some general support/opinions on what I'm going through. I'm 27 years old, stopped breastfeeding my first child in September last year. When my milk dried up I was having a feel and felt an area on the outter area of my left breast that felt harder then my right breast and felt a long skinny lump. I freaked out, went to the doctor who felt it and said it could either be a cyst or my breast returning to normal after stopping breastfeeding but she sent me for an ultrasound to be safe. The radiologist who did all my pregnancy scans who i got to know well did a very thorough check and said it was all completely normal breast tissue and not to worry. I felt relieved but then google got the better of me and said cancers are missed and a mammogram would go hand in hand. So I went back to the doctor and she said if it made me feel better she would refer me. I went for the mammogram and even paid extra for a new technology they had that gets a better picture. Again, radiologist said all normal just moderately dense which is normal for my age and not to worry but to re assess it in a month, and If anything changed or got worse to come back. This was back in November last year. Nothing has changed apart from the fact the long skinny bump has gone, but the hard area was still there. So I left it for a month then I was having another look and raised my arms and noticed a indent on the underside of my left breast and it got bigger as I leaned forward. I immediately burst out crying and straight back to the doctor who again reassured me and said that in all her years she hadn't seen something like that, that had related to breast cancer (but when I google there are alot of people who had this with their breast cancers??) she said she would do a referral to the breast clinic to ease my mind. I have been waiting since January to be seen but literally I'm at my wits ends and i cant handle waiting any longer. I'm constantly checking my breast to look for changes and I think about it 24:7 and it's eating away at me. I guess im just looking to see if anyone has had anything like this and had a positive outcome? Thanks x

Hey, Were you able to get in? I am having a similar issue and around the same age. I stopped breastfeeding my son in September last year. Few days back I saw a dent in my left breast, it is the same breast that had fibroadenoma (confirmed by biopsy) I was wondering if you found out what was going on with yours?

    Hi worriedmama2!

Yes I did manage to get in they had a cancellation thank god! The breast specialist took another look at my mammogram and ultrasounds and said there was nothing of concern. He then looked and felt my breast and said he still had no concern and that my breast tissue was just very "fatty". He asked to see the dimple, had a look and said that the dimple did not concern him the slightest, but didn't really give a reason as to why it's there...he said something about the cooper alignment shifting during and after pregnancy and obviously my breast just suffered a little but there was nothing to worry about. He's probably the 4th person now to tell me not to worry but I suppose I just need to stop worrying and get on with it now...I haven't had a biopsy as no ones felt I've needed one....just hope they are all correct!

I have a indentation on my right breast when I raise my arm. I discovered it back in 2016. I had it checked by mammogram and ultrasound. Nothing. I saw a surgeon who I begged for an MRI, came back completely clear. The Dr said it was from lazy ligaments from getting older (I was 31 at the time). Two years later it's still there, still the same.

    Hi Leslie735.

Thanks heaps for that comment it definitely made me feel better that your dimple was normal!! I just found it odd that everything weird was going on, on my left breast but the right completley normal! The surgeon felt absolutley no need for further testing and said he didn't even need to do a follow up. So I guess I should just trust their opinion and get on with it! My doctor also mentioned that it was lazy ligaments too but at 27 I didn't think that would be a thing!!

I am in the exact same boat almost! I stopped breastfeeding 4 months ago. Although my left side I stopped about 7 months ago because I had mastitis and it dried up after that.. anyways I've had the weird pain coming and going for about 6 weeks now only in the left breast. Dr found no lumps, burn ive been begging not for an ultrasound and she refuses saying it's not necessary but I'm going to keep pushing.

Looking for some insight. I had my yearly in January and everything was good to go. I recently moved away and in March found a lump.

I had a lump years ago but it was painful and very different. I had to see a breast specialist because breast cancer runs in my family. Grandmother passed away from breast cancer and mom has had issues all throughout the years.

This lump is much different. Hard and no pain. I found a doctor here and they ordered an ultrasound. He mentioned his concern was that it does not go away with my menstrual cycleand he may want it removed so it does not grow.

I went for the ultrasound. The technician told me it was not a cyst and appears to be a mass but it has smooth edges and cancer does not. She told me not to lose sleep over it. She then brought in the radiologist and she performed another ultrasound. I was told to come back in 6 months.

I was expecting my doctor office to follow up confirming that's how they would like to proceed. When I called into the office the nurse stated my results were read to me by the radiologist and to go off of that.

I know I'm fine but the follow up was terrible and with a family history I would like someone to be a little more thorough in their follow up.

I looked up my results online and this is what it read: There is a 1.9 x 0.8 x 1.4 cm oval hypoechoic nodule with macrolobulated margins at 5 oclock, 5 cm from nipple, which corresponds to a firm mobile marble-sized nodule on exam. Birad3.

Any insight into how to handle going forward? Like I said I know I'm fine but not very comfortable with their follow up. A friend recommended another doctor here and said to go for a second opinion just to be in better company of a better more thorough practice.

Any insight would be great! Thanks!

I’m sure it’s nothing I had pain for about 3 months! Which apparently is normal as your breasts return to normal! But never a bad idea to get an US for reassurance, but sure your fine! These babies like to do weird things to our bodies
