HI Everyone!

My results of my mammogram came back yesterday as having fine pleomorphic calcifications in a group distribution located in the anterior third of right breast at 9 o'clock, 2cm from nipple. I have a magnification mammo tomorrow morning. When I did my research with good ole Mr. Google it states those types of calcifications are in the NO GOOD category.

Seeing as how my sister had high grade DCIS at age 45 and Im 41, does this seem like I may have it too? It's ok if you say yes, I want honest answers. 😀

When I look at the images I obtained I see no white specs on them like what I see online pictures of calcifications. However there are only 10 images here and not the sliced images they state they can see the calcifications on.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Michele

Hi Michele-Don’t worry til you have to worry would be my advice right now. dr Google can be dangerous to your mental and emotional health. The calcifications could be indicators of DCIS lurking but could also just be pre-cancer calcifications that they can remove with lumpectomy. Did you or your sister have genetic testing done after her diagnosis?

Thanks for your response! She does not have the breast cancer gene. Hers was estrogen based, or something like that. I had genetic testing done two weeks ago. Waiting on results. We have a ton of different cancer in my family on my moms side

Michele, I had calcifications in my left breast for many years. i had mammograms and ultrasounds every 6 months. Then, BOOM! Mammo found a lump in my OTHER breast, big as a cherry!

I think all we can do is stay after the surveillance.
