Options

anyone have answer to this question.

If you are in antidepressants and they are not helping. You still have suicidal thoughts. Will ect help take away the suicidal thoughts,? I want to live a long life but my thoughts are very bad but I am not going to do anything about it right now. Sorry moderators, I am desperatly looking for answers. If I went to the dr and he said I had 1 week to live I would be happy. On the other hand if I could get rid of the suicidal thoughts I would like to live my life. I dont think anyone is able to help me, I guess that is when suicide sounds good.

I am ready to take desperate measures to fix my brain cause I feel if I keep living like this I might do something foolish. I am meditation taking meds hypnosis, exercise. I cant stand it anymore. I need help seeing psychiatrist. Never had any mental problem before bc dx. Please help me. Info about ect. All I think about is dying and how to live. It seems like dying is the answer, but I want to get better and live. In my building I knew 5vpeople who commited suicide, I could not understand why now I do know. No one wants to be around a person who thinks like this.

Moderators I sent 4 messages today to you. I think I am normal there probably a lot of people sending messages to you like this. Find someone who was able to turn their lives around. Help me. Thank you

    HUGS LoveLau.

I think it would be best to see your care giver. The meds you are on are not working. I went through a lot of psychologists till I finally found a social worker who did counseling. She is the best counselor I have ever had. Teaches you, not just listens. Take care of yourself.

Oh, sweetie! I am so sorry you're feeling so hopeless right now, but I understand. I really do. There have been times in my life where I just thought: I don't want to BE any more. It seems like it would hurt less to stop existing. The only thing that you can do sometimes is to say: I'll get through the next five minutes, next hour, next day. That's usually enough. If it isn't, please, please, please call the suicide prevention hotline. They are there to help. I don't know where you are, but in the USA the number is 800 273-8255.

I too deal with depression, you need to call your doctor right away about getting in touch with a psychologist and a psychiatrist. Once in therapy things do get better. If you feel like you are going to harm yourself, call the above number that Trish supplied above. Also the American Cancer Society can help you find local resources in your area (if you are from the US) the link is

Hang in there and get help. I'll be thinking of you.

I agree with previous users, you should deal with these suicidal thoughts immediately. Many people commit suicide suddenly, without much premeditation. One day they wake up, feel like they reached the bottom and do it.

Aside from medical help, it might benefit you to reach a spiritual person at a monastery or a temple. They often can help people see life through a new perspective and find deeper meanings.

LoveLau - your struggle seens enormously overwhelming from what you post here and your other threads. Please know that sometimes anti depressants can actually exacerbate the issues, and can cause heightened suicidal thoughts. Generally this applies to youth, but it can also occur with particularly vulnerable patients. It's called a paradox effect. Read this link:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3353604/

PLEASE contact your PCP, therapist, psych or the suicide prevention line 800-273-8255 immediately and tell them what you're experiencing. Everyone here replying wants to be around you, even if it is online. We all care and don't want anything but peace of mind for you. PLEASE reach out immediately, your meds maybe causing issues you need to get appraised. Keep us posted, we care!

I think I pasted this link on another one of your threads. 60 minutes television did a story on ECT last night. The attached is a story of a survivor, actually someone well known, Kitty Dukakis. Her husband ran for President of the United States back in 1988 and her struggle with depression is very well known. She actively uses ECT. I saw the piece last night and found it very informative.

It is imperative you speak to a psychiatrist as soon as you can so he or she can answer all your questions and get you on the right path wether its a change in medicine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ECT or something else.

Oh Lovelau I’m so sorry you are feeling this way. We all understand a BC DX is a frightening and depressing process. I know it can put you over the edge. I’m sure a lot of us felt sad, despondent and angry.

Let me say I personally understand suicide. My DH is bipolar and when he went off his meds about 15 years ago he did attempt suicide and then changed his mind at the last minute. He nearly died but God decided it wasn’t his time. He still has scars physically and emotionally. So do I and our children but have gotten better over the years. He had intensive and extensive therapy and still does. I would definitely recommend that help. I know it saved his life and I will be eternally grateful for that.

We are here for you. Please keep in touch and keep the faith.

Also let me add the doctors have changed his meds several times. Some work better than others.
