Worried
hi I’m just after some advice and hopefully some reassurance.
In Oct last tear I noticed an indent at 5oclock on my left breast. I was. Breastfeeding at the time and had an ultrasound that came back all clear.
Now I have finished breastfeeding and the dent is getting bigger.
I went to a different GP today asking for another ultrasound and she literally pushed on the area twice while I was standing and said no. It’s normal and not to worry. I asked to explain why I have the indent and she mumbled something about milk ducts.
I’m really nervous because to me the change is drastic it’s gone from a smooth indent to puckered and small lumps.
What can I do? I’m very worried for my young baby and I’m feeling really anxious about it.

hi Laylasmum,
Did you figure out the reasoning for your Dimple/ indent yet? I am in the same situation as you.. I weaned off 2 months back and about a month back I noticed one dimple in my left breast in inner lower quadrant only while bending or flexing... ultrasound is clear .. around that area ( not exactly below the dimple), there are some milk ducts.. my doc gave medicine to dry off milk as she feels there could be galactohhrea .. no mammo no mri...
ANy suggestions from other members on what further I can do to find the reasoning of this indent?

I went to a specialist and they did another ultrasound was all clear. Had to wait another 6 weeks and go back for a Mammo.
That was also all clear. They are putting it down to changes in the breast tissue from feeding as I also noticed it in the right breast but it’s not as noticeable because that breast is so much bigger than the other and it’s kinda tucked up underneath.
I asked about MRI and they advised it wasn’t necessary and it can often give false positives and cause more unnessesary stress.
Can you request a mammogram?

this must be reassuring for you.. no the doc told me to wait until milk ducts dry off and told to come after 6 months for mammo.. she said ultrasound is pretty acccurate and thorough.. no masses on CBE .. some days I let it go some days I feel panic but I feel am doing what is supposed to be done.. maybe I’ll go in 3 months and push for mamm

definitely doing the right thing! It’s really hard not to worry about it. I often wondered if it was always there but I never really looked at my boobs as much as I did while breastfeeding. Haha.
I now take an antidepressant because I’m a super anxious person it’s definitely helped a lot.
My friend is a sonographer and radiologist and she has reassured me that Ultrasound is great for detection especially for younger women with dense breasts. Mammogram and MRI are just another modality used for detection.
Definitely go back and ask for a mammo. To be honest it’s your body and if your still concerned follow your gut. I was told I don’t need to go back but I will be asking for a follow up scan/mammo in 6 months time. Just to put my mind at ease.
