Hi I am 50 years old, have not had a mammo in 4 years. Needless to say, I have a special needs child I was attending to and forgot about myself. My Mammo came back with grouped calcifications, no mention of size or anthing. However seen on both breasts. I was placed on HRT in december with estorgen and progesterone. Going on Thursday for Magnified views. Any one out there have this experience. Worried!!

Try not to be hard on yourself. It's so hard raising a child with special needs (I have 2). When their needs are so pressing, so "in your face" every day, it's easy to put ourselves on the back burner. But don't beat yourself up over it. You didn't cause this.

It is very common to get called back for extra views. It just means there's something they are curious about. Extra films might rule in or rule out certain conditions. Calcifications in both breasts is actually a good thing. Cancer usually doesn't show up in both breasts at the same time. Of course, there is always that possibility, which is why you must have further testing.

Remember this: it's not cancer until pathology proves it. Let us know how it goes.

    Hello!

I stumbled across this. I was curious if your results were positive?

I went in for my first mammo in April 2018 at age 42 and received a call from the screening place to come back in. I immediately called my doctor because I didn't understand what was being requested. I just had my mammogram why would they be calling me back.

I contacted my PCP but she was out of town, I went to pick up the results from the office and the finding report states

    - Regional calcification with focal asymmetries in the left breast

    - Grouped calcification in the upper outer quadrant of the right breast with associate focal asymmetries.

I finally made contact with my PCP who stated these are "normal" findings, but be sure to go back for my follow up on May 9th.

I've had great tenderness that one would associate with a menstrual cycle; except I have no long have these due to a hysterectomy. The tenderness has been going on for months and can be so bad that I dread ever taking off my bra.

If there is any insight that would be wonderful!

    Thank you!
