Terrified-big red blotch
Yesterday out of the blue a bright pink/red blotch appeared on my left breast, as though I was burned by an iron measuring about an inch. No bumps or anything else. Its still there this am. Im panicked I have IBC. Im calling my dr today. I had a breast MRI 6 months ago, would this detect this? Does not seem like a rash from anything which is the concerning part meaning I don't know what else could cause a mark like this.

K2, relax. Panic never helped one thing one bit. Lots of things can cause marks on our bodies, on our breasts. You are right to see your doctor, only the doctor can diagnose you. If it helps any, my IBC did not present that way, but that is me and not you. Let your medical experts tell you what it is, then go from there. Keep us posted. You are on top of it whatever it is. Relax.

There are so MANY possibilities as to what your skin issue is totally unrelated to any form of BC. IBC is rare - only between 1% and 5% of ALL diagnosed BCs. IF everyone who developes a skin issue on breast and jumps to the comclusion they have IBC were true - it would be the most common form of BC, which it definately isn't.
No one here can tell you what is going on - only your Dr(s) can. We are not medical personnel.
My IBC never presented with any skin reddness either.
See your Dr but remember that IBC is highly unlikely with there being so MANY other much more likely probabilities.

It's good that you're getting an appointment to see your doctor. That's the only one who can diagnose you. I wonder, your description almost sounds like hives. Is it raised? Could you have come into contact with anything you might be allergic to? And don't think that means it would itch. My daughter and I have both had severe hives from medication allergies, and we didn't even know that's what it was at first. Also, my daughter once had a "fungus" on her chest from sweating in summer school gym clothes and bra. I knew...ewwww.

Thank you all for replies. No it's not raised-it's about a 1 inch mark as though I've been burned by an iron or sitting in the sun with a strange burn. No texture or itching at all. It's like someone took a red marker and colored in a large area. My dr told me to wait a wk and see if it goes away from there she would send me to a surgeon I assume for biopsy

Advice ladies above, and from your doctor is sound. We all hope it clears up to be nothing significant.

So the big red mark is still there, it appears to be more red when I get out of the shower. No itching, but am starting to get pain above it and in my arm pit. My Dr wants me to wait till Monday to see if it clears before referring me to a surgeon. I had an MRI 6 months ago, I get them each yr due to my Mom have breast cancer and it was clear. I know IBC is very rapid growing so it doesn't really matter that I had a clear MRI.
It does turn white if I press on it so Im hoping thats a good sign.
Its just odd and very obvious. Worried and waiting till Monday isn't sitting well with me.

You can call your doctor and say you want the referral today. Then you will see a surgeon quicker than waiting for the referral today. Waiting till Monday wont affected your treatment plan, just will give you piece of mind. Try not to mash around on your boob and armpit constantly, it will only make things more sore and it won't help you figure it out any quicker. I hope you get answers soon, and I am thinking of you.

Thanks, I got referrals so I will call on Monday. This morning there were a ton of long red lines spidering out of the mark-they are now gone however, though the mark remains-it even concerned my husband. This is very stressful. Doesn't seem right to have a benign mark like this out of the blue that has lasted this long.

Did did you ever find out your problem? I am having a similar symptom
