Recurrence....chemo?

Options

Anyone NOT have chemo the first time but get it the 2nd time with a recurrence/new cancer in your breast? If so, can you share what the reason was? Was the changing factor just the fact it was back? Or pathology/size ect? 2nd onco?

Also....I did not have rads the first time...this time it is for sure. And they are really pressuring to start asap (pending no chemo)....anyone delay a week or two? Have any links on details regarding speed/delay

Appointment with MO in the morning....not sure what questions to ask the 2nd time around. Any suggestions/feedback would be great!

TIA

Hi Green: I had lumpectomy and rads my first time around. And tamoxifen. 2nd time, mastectomy and chemo and Femara.

I wasn’t expected to have chemo, but my oncotype (the 2nd go round) came back higher than expected and because both 1st and 2nd times were estrogen positive and because I recurred while faithfully taking tamoxifen, the tumor board tied 2 to 2 on whether to recommend chemo. I chose to do the chemo, as I have 12 year old twins and wanted to be sure I’d done everything possible to try to prevent cancer from knocking on my door again.

Let me know if you have other questions

    Keep us posted.

Thank you Mom-mom. I have gone with "weighing it all out" (first time) to lets throw the book at it this time. I do not want to be doing this every 10 months. I have 12 and 13 year old boys too....

Curious, what was your onco the first time/2nd time? I was wondering last night if onco takes in affect it is a 2nd time or not?

In my 2015 chemo group, there were 4...yes 4...of us that were there for recurrences. Obviously we were all having chemo. I was hte only one who'd done it prior.
