I am a 16 year survivor of Stage 4 BC with a recurrence in 3 lymph nodes in my chest.  My Foundation reports shows a Somatic BRCA1 as equivocal, and BRCA2 positive.

So my onc will start me on Olaparib PARP inhibitor as soon as they (hopefully) can get grants to pay the co-pays.

I am recovering from 8 days on a phase 2 clinical trial of Poziotinib, which was a nightmare.

I just got approved for the Lynparza (Olaparib) and my co-pay will only be $3.70 a month!!!

The pharmacist talked to me about it and how to take it.  UPS will deliver it on Wed, and I left a message at my chemo center asked if I can start the pills immediately or do I have to wait until I see my onc on Friday first.

    Hi,

I am BRCA1, and undergoing treatment (chemo and then rads) for a loco-regional recurrence found in a lymph node in my chest last November.

I am planning to try to take Olaparib after I finish rads in August. I'm concerned about side effects. Does anyone know of any threads where this is being discussed? I am so worn out by chemo right now that the thought of going on something long term that's going to make me keep feeling like this is pretty unattractive. Also, if I'm in remission, I'd like to feel as good as I can for as long as I can without treatment. But, on the other hand, being BRCA1 and having had one recurrence already, I'd really like to try to do everything I can to avoid another one.

    Thanks!!

Google the site...www.Inspire.com.  That is where I found information on it and since ladies with Ovarian CA are on Olaparib, you can read the side effects.  They have a large thread on it.

It is now being used for BC.  My onc decided not to put me on it, and put me on Xeloda and Herceptin instead.
