Hi I’m new to the group and I’m really trying to find the right answer...the last week of January I noticed I had a clear discharge coming from my right breast I went to dr he sent me for mammogram which came back clear so I ignored it and went on with life...2 weeks ago I go back to dr because I still have discharge that never stopped they did blood work which all came back clear (TSH, prolactin, etc) so now he is sending me to breast surgeon...I started reading up on Intraductal Carcinoma because he told me he thought it was possible I had it however I get conflicting info one site says it’s nothing to worry about another says to worry about it...during my search I also noticed itching was another sign which I have been doing ALOT of. I’ve been keeping it quiet from my family til I get all the answers. Does it sound like I should worry or not? At this point I’m not sure if it’s serious or not

MM350- I'm one year out from a diagnosis of DCIS. I've had a little crustiness around my left nipple in the last month or so. I don't actually see any leaking though. I also have an intense itching going on periodically. I can feel fine raised rashlike areas. The problem is, there are so many things that could be causing the symptoms. I have an appt with my oncologist in two weeks. The 3W's (watching, waiting & worrying) are the hardest times in this medical journey. Without testing the discharge, seeing something on a mammogram or doing a biopsy it's difficult to have any idea what is going on.

My sister-in-law wore a fit-bit type gadget pined to her bra when she ran. She had bumps, itching and some fluid around her nipple. Turns out she is allergic to material on the gadget. It really can be anything at this point. Keep us posted with whatever the surgeon tells you. You are in my thoughts

I think we can all identify with your fear--of course you're worried. Whether it's something serious is anyone's guess. I'm not sure why your doctor would float the possibility that this might be IDC, though, since you had a clean mammogram 4 months ago? There are actually several benign conditions that can cause clear discharge, including fibroadenoma and intraductal papilloma.

What is your doctor's recommendation now?

I definitely agree I don’t know why a dr would tell someone cancer is a possibility without further testing this is the same reason I’ve not told my husband or kids. I’m 40 yo and I’ve never had this issue before but I felt that was a bit of a jump so now I get to worry myself crazy til May 17 when I go see breast surgeon then I get to wait til I get further testing then wait for results. I bet if these drs had to live with us worrying like this they wouldn’t be so quick to throw the C word at us without full tes

I just keep thinking when I read your posts that there has to be some poor communication on your doctor's part. That is why I asked if you were sure he/she said "carcinoma, as opposed to papilloma."I have no dea why the doc would make that jump with a clear mammogram, as opposed to possible (perhaps more likely) benign explanations.

I even brought a friend I work with to my appointment and there was definitely no miscommunication he definitely said carcinoma I’ve never even heard of it before that day I always thought breast cancer was breast cancer I didn’t know there was so many different types...I wasn’t even concerned til he said that!!
