Today I had my sentinel node biopsy and port put in. I'm happy to say that the nuclear injection for the sentinel node wasn't near as bad as stories I had heard...just burned for a few seconds. The surgeon did the dye injections while I was under anesthia thankfully. Since waking up, my breast is throbbing though. I have no pain from the port or node biopsy sites. Is it normal for the breast to hurt for a while after the injections?

Hhmm.. I am not the one to give any possibilities. Even though I'm post op and recovering ok,I am a walking problem. I think your situation can be very unique. I didn't even know you could have a sentinel without a mastectomy. The burning pain is exactly what the sentinel die feels like. I did not have any burning pain in my breast after, because I didn't have a breast...so.... I see this was sometime ago,so hope you are doing well.

I found the injection to be VERY painful - like being stung by the world's biggest, meanest wasp. However, there was no residual pain. I had a lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy the following day and just had the normal post-surgical pain. Sorry I can't be more help.
